Great architectural design offering romantic and luxurious atmosphere. Great location being on Lamai beach, one of the best spot for swimming and relaxing in Koh Samui. Our room was although not being beach frontage but only one minute walk to the amazingly clean and private beach. It is a shame the villa was facing a small walkway where other guests and staff can see us lying on the bed if slide doors were open. Gardeners worked hard to maintain the garden but in front of our villa was where they parked their vehicles. Some people rode the motorbike pass the villa then rode away. It could be a better idea if workers could park their motorbikes near the restaurant side after breakfast hours. Regular engine sound and sights of the motorbikes unfortunately ruined the unique ambience of this extraordinary ornated resort. Guests wouldn't want to have their photos taken with the motorbikes in the background. Breakfast offered generous options. It was fun to design own menu for the next morning. Staff worked deligently to serve guests quickly. One thing staff could do better is to keep conversation in the prep area to the minimum. The voice of staff ordering food to the kitchen constantly was overwhelming. It took over the ambience which should have been calm and relaxing for some people. The noise at the cafe near the swimming pool could also be minimum. Staff sang a song quite loud and had casual conversation constantly. Guests were relaxing near the swimming pool could hear all noises from staff. Housekeeping could be more flexible. One day we didn't put the no disturb sign at the door and staff knocked at the door with all equipment ready to come in. We left the room quickly since they seemed to really want to get the cleaning done. It could be nice if guests could also write on the breakfast form what time to get the room made up. Swimming pool area should be smoking free. Designated smoking area should be provided. Private swimming pool at villa could be cleaner. The spa didn't work and some areas of the pool was slimy.

Absolutely loved our 3 night stay here! The grounds and landscaping are beautiful. My husband and I stayed here to celebrate my birthday and they really went above and beyond. We arrived to the hotel from the airport with a private driver that they had set up for us (was reasonably priced) and was very convenient to have that arranged prior to arrival. Upon check in, we were given cold towel and a welcome beverage. They showed us to our villa and gave us a tour. Our beach view pool villa was amazing and huge! I loved that there was small kitchen and laundry machine. There was so much space and the outdoor shower was beautiful. So unique and special. The outdoor pool was perfect and actually deeper than I thought it would be. You can swim comfortably in it and the water was always the perfect temperature. The service at this resort was incredible. Everyone from the front desk to the beach/restaurant staff were welcoming and always greeted us with a smile. I can’t say enough about how well we were treated. Since it was my birthday, they set up beautiful flowers on the bed and even got me a birthday cake! Thank you so much for that. We opted for a floating breakfast that morning for a small fee. The breakfast they include have delicious options and you do order it the day before. The food here is amazing!! Everything we’ve had was so delicious and I loved their pina coladas. In all, I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing, quiet resort to enjoy their holidays with a touch of luxury. We had the best time and cannot wait to come back!

One of the best hotels I stayed in! The entire hotel is beautifully decorated like a traditional Thai palace/temple. Absolutely breathtaking. With only 18 rooms in the hotel, you feel like you are in a nearly private hotel just for you (especially during less busy periods). Each room has their own fairly deep pool, although the pools are in the room front facing the hotel sidewalk, so they are not secluded from the hotel environment - fyi. Food quality is out of this world with super delicious and creative options for breakfast, including a cute option to add carved fruit text to your smoothie bowl. We also ordered some food from the hotel restaurant, which was fairly price and very delicious. Small things that could be improved: The gym was very hot during the morning (despite having turned on both ACs) and you had to bring your own towel and water from your room to the gym. The road options leading to and from the main street are not the most pleasent. You either have to walk on the winding paved road that goes up and down a steep hill (not too hard, but unpleasant in Koh Samui heat), or you can avoid the hill if you walk from the beach to a neighboring hotel and cut through the other hotel grounds. Both options require an approximate 7 minutes walk. A short buggy shuttle service could have made this much more pleasent.

So lucky to have enjoyed our second long-stay at Ammatara Pura. We chose the same Oceanview Pool Villa - and were completely satisfied with the excellent room size and facilities this room gives. If you're looking for an extremely spacious personal villa that is part of a small, family-owned complex, complete with private pool and Sala, then this would be the choice for you. You have all the facilities expected of a 5 star resort including breakfasts fit for royalty (I kid you not!), first class house-keeping service daily, expansive grounds with two swimming pools and multiple sun lounge options, plus bar and restaurant located on the beachfront. All this set in beautiful gardens manicured to perfection by Khun Tor. ||Ammatara is tucked away in a quiet area of busy Lamai - so close but so removed from the tourist streets and scene. And when you do want the nightlife and shops, markets and restaurants, not to forget the incredibly good and value for money street food, then all these are only a 5 minute walk away - I suggest heading down the beach to reach the Main Streets of Lamai. ||As far as location is concerned, Ammatara is set right on the best part of Lamai Beach. The beach rarely raises more than a tiny wave and is very safe. And because it's tucked down the beach a little it escapes the crowds, in fact there were multiple occasions when we were the only ones in the water! Ammatara's location truly is one of its best assets. ||The included breakfasts were literally a daily feast. With options from Western to Thai and other Asian cuisines it will delight all palates. Each dish is individually cooked to order and I can assure you this is a far superior option to the usual buffet. With so much to choose from just think of it as your own personal buffet. I don't hesitate to say it's the most enjoyable breakfast experience hubby and I have ever had and we've done a lot of travelling.||Ammatara also caters for lunch and dinner which can be served in-villa, or down at their beachside/poolside restaurant. ||There are only 18 villas in total at Ammatara which equates to a very personal level of customer service from their absolutely delightful staff - whom I cannot speak more highly of. They are a huge part of what brings us back time and again and we're looking forward to our third stay next year.||I cannot recommend Ammatara more highly - it is simply wonderful. Feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions I might be able to...

To quote Tina, SIMPLY THE BEST!, we never thought we’d return again and again to the same place, as with most things, always looking for something different and better. With AMMATARA, I simply believe that it’s the best we have found in extensive travels and would be almost impossible to improve upon for us. The beach is metres away and perfect for swimming, the pools, both private and the community pool are large and well looked after and designed. The villas are large and again, extremely well thought out and presented, and within walking distance to lamai township with restaurants bars shops etc.. Now the best….the people who are there for you, the staff are the greatest asset of any business, and these people who work there are beyond compare. Khun Bua and khun Gail, together with the other staff make what is already a superb breakfast an entertainment and a distinct pleasure, khun Drim is a delightful young man who goes out of his way to help. The gardener extraordinaire, khun Tor has the exquisite gardens and shrines and ensures that guests are well looked after with sunshades over their sun-lounges, all the while maintaining a very friendly and helpful demeanour. I hope I’ve done there names justice? Khun Nong and Steve at reception are exceptional and always willing and ready with advice and help about the resort and the island. The kitchen staff are only matched in their ability by their friendly smiles and capability, all of which are outstanding. Last and certainly not least, the cleaning staff, who come in each day, do an amazing job and leave with, again, beautiful smiles . |Kudos to the owners of this resort, they obviously care about their staff, and it shows in the retention rate, and the general pride that the staff show in both themselves and their resort. Maintenance and upgrades are a constant requirement at a beach resort and the owners obviously have a program in place that ensures a high standard is maintained throughout.|It’s not perfect, and it’s not for everyone, but if you’re seeking a slice of paradise, with superb people around you, this is the...
