We stayed in the middle beach front room. From looking at the other hotels in the surrounding area, this was probably best for value and location. Staff were incredibly kind and extremely helpful. I’d rate the hotel amenities 3 star - but the location gets it to the 4th star. The bed was the comfiest I have slept on in Thailand and the beach front room was a treat when waking up in the morning. Hot water and water pressure wasn’t consistent and lots of ants everywhere. The room was clean and spacious. ||The hotel is currently renovating (receptionist said it would be completed on the day or day after our stay, but it definitely looks like it will be finished in mid-January/early Feb. Tip for the hotel staff - please be upfront and honest to manage guests expectations about your renovation - it didn’t bother us but it would bother others!) ||Skip the breakfast - As the hotel is renovating, breakfast is at a cafe a few doors down. You can choose either a ‘western, Thai or healthy’ breakfast. We had the western and healthy between us, honestly I’d skip the breakfast as there better looking places nearby and on the side streets. This isn’t the hotels fault, it’s just whoever they’ve teamed up with. ||We emailed beforehand to ask not to be in the room next to the bar as we’d read negative reviews. We were placed in the middle beach view room out of the 5. We stayed Wednesday - Saturday and the room was quite loud, it’s mostly the base you can hear from the nearby beach bar. The hotel provides earplugs in the room anyway and we didn’t find it as a problem as we sleep through anything - but it was VERY loud on the Friday night and would bother some. ||There was a drunk man who tried to take a sleep on our balcony netting, security spotted him very quickly and had already moved him along before I asked. Even though this happened, I felt extremely safe knowing there’s security all night long who keep a watchful eye. ||If you’re ok with your location being in a super busy area and wanting to experience Koh Tao’s night life, this hotel is for you. If you want something more private and peaceful, I’d suggest looking elsewhere but you won’t find a better location to a brilliant beach. ||Friendly staff and very helpful. We were offered a free bottle of wine from the mini bar and two free taxi trips to the port...
Read moreWe booked this hotel thinking it would be the highlight of our trip across Thailand. Sadly it was the lowlight.||The pictures and websites portray a peaceful haven sanctuary directly on the beach. The one accurate portrayal is that it’s on the beach. The people in the cafe bar are really friendly and nice. ||- The view from the room Is amazing however there was dog poo under our room hammock which gave off a yuck smell. No one came to clear the hammock areas of beach litter or dog poo. 💩 |- The balcony door would not shut properly so when the wind picks up you felt the wind in your room. 💨|- There was no hot water all the time we were there so had to have cold showers. ☹️🥶|- There was black mold on the ceiling.🤢|- The breakfast options included were poor.||It’s not in a peaceful part of the beach. There is a bar next door but one playing loud music till 2am everyday, and some form of noisy generator on all night. So if you’re a light sleeper or find it hard to get to sleep this is not the place for you. ||Day one they were painting the hotel and we were hit with toxic oil paint that would make you dizzy if hit with a strong amounts.||Other days there was building work with power tools in the ground floor rooms that woke us up in the morning. They said they would stop when asked but it continued. Also it’s not peaceful or idyllic to be sat on your balcony and all you can hear is power tools.||The hotel also said they’d pay for our taxi to the pier head but they did not, and we had to pay ourselves. ||I’d rather be at work than pay for this. We so wanted to like this place but it ruined our holiday. ||So word to the now wise. Don’t fall for the image of a beautiful hotel on the seafront....
Read moreWe had a truly great stay here at Blue Tao, entirely because of the staff, food and location.
The staff are so friendly, had some great conversations over breakfast and happy hour! Thank you to all, I am especially impressed that by the end of our stay you had managed to memorise my breakfast order.
The food here was great, we had three varying breakfast options included with our stay, and I opted for the fruit & granola each morning. It was always fresh, tasty and set me up perfectly for the day, with such a good portion! The coffee was perfect, and when they didn’t have any oat milk left, they couldn’t have been more apologetic.
The room was spacious and modern. However, the air con was facing the wrong way in my opinion (not facing the bed, but facing the window), so often the room was too warm. Also the bathroom wasn’t quite as clean as I’d have liked, the shower in particular seemed to collect grub around the tiles, taps and handles - and the shower head itself was a little crusty. The bidet gun sometimes didn’t turn off, it would just keep spraying and spraying, even after flushing the toilet - which as you can imagine, was quite a scene.
The location is perfect, situated right on a beautiful patch of beach, it makes for an exquisite spot to snorkel with the many tropical fish here, catch the sun on the white sand, or watch the sunset over a cocktail. You are also so close to many delicious restaurants and shops, so plenty of options!
We will be returning, thank you Blue Tao! P.s. a special mention to the furry friends we made here...
