For the price, this is an exceptional hotel and I especially loved the location. Close to many amenities, including the new Robinson Mall (just next door) and the airport, I managed to squeeze in two eco tours with only a meagre 5 day stay. Happy and Healthy Bike Lane was one outing I experienced and it was convenient enough to get there by Grab car from the hotel. The main reason why I booked this hotel was because of its location to so many amenities. For those who love fast food and take-out, you only have a few meters to walk from the front door of the hotel before you have food in your possession. The alleyway in front of the hotel is pretty light with traffic and it's a very safe walk to the main boulevard and to Robinson Mall, which also has a decent Tops Grocery Store. Also, the hotel is far enough from the busy main boulevard and the surrounding neighbourhood is fairly quiet, which is another big plus. And my room was soundproof, as well. One should be able to get a good night's rest without the use of ear plugs. For those complaining about your hotel room's air conditioning when you arrive - you have to allow the unit to power up and that could take up to an hour. Once the AC unit has optimized, then you're good to go. The air conditioning works excellent and kept my small room quite cool during my time there. Also, my bed was soft and very comfortable. It was a small room but for the price, well worth it.The cons I had was low water pressure in the shower stall and the cleaning crew not sweeping my floor. I had crumbs on the floor that were quite visible. Room cleaning missed that for whatever reason. The front desk is open 24/7 and it was easy enough to communicate with staff if I needed anything. I would easily recommend this hotel to friends and family but be aware that the most affordable rooms are rather small but personally, a small hotel room...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Cottage is a great little hotel about a 10 minute drive from Bangkoks main airport. It is situated in a quiet Thai neighbourhood just off the busy Lat Krabang road. There is little in the way of entertainment in the area with just a few little Thai restaurants nearby and a couple of cafes. There is a little Thai mom and pop convenience store across the road where you can pick up some essentials. There is however a major shopping complex about 250m around the corner where you will find Robinsons, Amazon, McDonalds and a host of other big-name retailers. The Cottage appears relatively new and I stayed in a Deluxe Poolside room, booked through Agoda at a very reasonable rate of 1,000 baht. The room was spotlessly clean, spacious, bright and airy with everything working as it should do. Small fridge, kettle (no tea or coffee however which is odd), bath robes, small TV, workstation for a laptop and great AC. Wifi was excellent, the bed very comfortable, even though they were two singles pushed together which I am not a fan of, and there were power points both sides of the bed but only a side table on one side. The bathroom was great. It was a decent size with water pressure in the shower very strong and hot. There is however no room safe. I paid for breakfast one morning, 250 baht but it was a little underwhelming with limited choices. The dining area was quite impressive though and you can choose to sit in the outdoor area if you so wish. Across from the dining area they have a pool table. The highlight for me however, was being able to step from my room straight into the swimming pool. Its beautifully lit up at night and a nice area to while away a couple of hours. The hotel have complimentary shuttle vans that run to the airport throughout the day/night. All in all a great stay and highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBarely adequate. This hotel has many ageing worn down features. Positives: Room size is good value with the nice balcony. Wireless is average to good. I wanted to like this hotel because of the seven minute walk to Paseo Mall which has an interesting variety of restaurants (some good quality, some good value). The mall also has small food and clothing vendors, Lotus Express, banks, pharmacy, etc. Also there is a good cheap standard Thai restaurant (sign says "ThaiFood") one minute walk from hotel (delicious tom kha, etc.) Negatives: This hotel is in bad need of remodelling and upgrades (for example, dirty hallway walls and worn dirty looking buffet restaurant cabinets/counters. Our room had a dinosaur TV with worst reception I can remember in any hotel or motel. Small frig but no microwave oven (how much investment does it take to provide small microwave ovens?). No coffee or anything other consumables in room except two free waters per day (pressure to patronize the run-down over-priced restaurant). Breakfast is okay but very overpriced (300 baht). No room safe, while there are warnings that anything lost is totally your own problem (no offer to store things in a hotel safe). Although room is okay, it is fraying "around the edges." I strongly disrespect the business model of this hotel. By milking the business for maximum profit without maintaining quality and renovating when needed, the owner is letting a good enterprise deteriorate which will end up on the lowest end sucker-punch style hotel. I will not come here again - there are other much better hotels in the same price range. This is definitely NOT a three-star hotel as Google map has it rated. In its current condition and with current amenities, it is a...
