The opportunity to stay the night at Pulley Hostel was the icing on the cake of a very impromptu first time weekend runaway to Hua Hin! Walking distance to the beach with clean and cozy ample bed units, this hostel is owned and run by an endearing local family that really demonstrate the genuine warmth of Thai hospitality. Breakfast was basic, but sufficient, considering that it was included in the room rate which compared to other lodging about the town, is quite competitive! There was also no shortage of advice and assistance on things to do and getting back into "town". While it is some distance off from the train and bus stations, it is a short walk to the point where local buses can be picked up for the ten to fifteen minute drive. ||The showers and toilets were generally well maintained (clean) and serviced and the dorms spacious with ample lighting, both individual bed units and centralized in the room. A full length mirror in the room was a welcome inclusion and not something typically found in many of the hostels I've stayed at before. They also thought to install plug units at the mirrors in the bathrooms for electric shavers, flat irons and the like! ||If you're looking for serenity, some peace and quiet with a great vantage point and close proximity to the beach, this is your place! Great value for money in my books and definitely...

Read moreI never stayed in a hostel before and doubt I ever will again... not because this was bad compared to any others (and my 3 star rating has no relevance really) because I can't compare...||But I just don't get it.... The reception and ground floor all looks great - good design, interesting... bathrooms good and clean.. staff all very nice... relatively quiet at night...good aircon... all good points.... But - to be honest the bedroom was like being in a prison. I felt like a refugee. Maybe regular hostel goers like this kind of thing, but there wasn't even a chair.. I had to sit on the concrete floor... I couldnt sit up in the bunk bed because I'm too tall (5'11"). I just hated spending any time in that room.||I've stayed in budget hotels in the town centre on deals for 500 baht a night which were very clean and had ensuite bathroom... tv etc.||||One thing really amused me though... a big sign on the back of the bedroom door... 3000 baht fine for having sex in the dormitory... I couldnt help wondering if it was half price for solitary activity... I didnt risk it though for fear of my sentence being extended.||||I guess I'm just a miserable old guy who likes a...
