3 Chefs was close to our hotel and well-rated.
Our first impression was... real napkins, not those tissues we pull from a plastic pack. Also, flatware was in a cloth pouch; nice touch!
My Wife got the pad thai (chix, shrimp) and I got the Massaman. We got fried rice in pineapple to have leftovers.
The first thing I noted was the proteins were cooked perfectly; not that most stir-fry is not, but this goosed us to the obvious conclusion that the others were REALLY done, whereas this was perfectly done.
Massaman comes with a thigh, which is our preferred. Delightfully presented with cinnamon stick atop, this was a delightful melange of spices, potato and aforementioned chicken.
Pad Thai was also wonderful, with proteins also cooked perfectly. Yam.
Fried rice in pineapple had shrimp atop, and... perhaps you guessed it, perfectly cooked. Delish, the pineapple adding a lovely flavor to an otherwise pedestrian dish.
Prices were in line with anywhere else.
Service with a smile; dishes came out in reasonable time for cuisine a couple notches above the usual fare. This guy may do this in his home, but this could be in some fancier brick-n-mortar at higher price point. The guy gets the customer-forward aspects of dindin; flavor, texture and presentation. Please, don't suggest. We like it as it is.
+++Compostable to-go containers.
Great value; we will return.
Return, we did.
BEST pad kra pow...
Read moreI arrived with high hopes, based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews. I left underwhelmed.
In retrospect I ordered probably the most farang dish possible, (chicken and cashew nuts,) so that might have a bit to do with the disappointment. That being said, I would like to return to try a curry and see if my opinion is swayed.
It was a large portion, which was nice. The meat to veggie ratio was impressive, unlike most other places that load up on the veggies. However, it was dry, desperately lacking in sauce. Also missing, flavor. I can honestly say I've never been served this dish prepared as blandly anywhere in Thailand.
The large, western style, paper napkins were a nice change from the typical tissue paper supplied by most other restaurants.
The pricing was good, in terms of value. It was a respectable amount of food for the money, but sadly devoid of flavor, (I found only 1 chili pepper in the entire dish.)
Bottom line...this is a Thai restaurant for farang tourists who don't really enjoy Thai food the way it is intend. Then again, I did order chicken and cashew nuts so I see the irony in that statement.
As I said, I intend to give this place...

Nov 2022 - Cannot fault the food at all but when the restaurant is busy the service lets it down. We arrived at 7:45pm. Unfriendly and inattentive front of house staff who speak limited English. We waited 15 mins to get drinks and 45 mins to get starters, and had to ask twice for 2nd round of drinks as they didn’t arrive. I would rather have been told that they were particularly busy when we were seated. As I said the food is flawless and is cooked fresh to order so perhaps best to go early. This is my 2nd visit and we had a similar experience...
