If you're visiting Phuket, just take something that is closer to the old town unless you plan to get a motorbike (chaos!). Moving around is hard and expensive. The staff on the buses will try to make you get a taxi instead of the bus, only so you can pay they very expensive rates! (15B for the bus vs. 200-300b for the taxi, same route!). Oh we got discounted prices from Agoda, that's why we took it, but sure you can find something cheaper neat old town (this is about half an hour walking distance) The hotel was ok, clean and modern. Breakfast was ok for one day but the second you wanna run away from their bananas, croissants and sticky rice... Not much choice. The staff was nice and helpful although we found some of them who couldn't speak English at all... Not sure how they got there. They put us on a twin room, even though we paid for a Superior Double. When we complained, the guy on the reception tried to explain us that he would put the two beds together the next day... We asked him to change rooms to a double and he kept saying they didn't have any available. Finally after much asking and him trying to explain with his poor english the situation, he gave us a new room, double and very big. We also rented a motorbike with the hotel which worked fine and we could just leave copies of our passports, which not many rental places accept (don't leave your passport! they have to learn that that's illegal!). Apart from the tank being almost empty, the bike worked good to move around. In general, the experience with BluMonkey was average but worked for us who just needed clean bedsheets and a/c after a few days sleeping on...

So here's the background: My 2 friends and I were looking to travel for the weekend and since 3 traveling people is not the easiest to find accommodation, Blu Monkey Bed & Breakfast is one of the hotel around Phuket that offered a triple room.
We are very simple travelers and honestly only needed a bed for each person and a functioning bathroom.
However, Blu Monkey blew us away with more than what they offered. The receptionists were helpful and friendly, there was a nice TV in the room with HDMI cable (which we used to connect our Apple TB), the WIFI was of high speed, the sheets were very clean on relatively firm beds, and there were 2 pillows on each bed.
For the price that we paid, I would say this was a steal. I would really recommend this place to anyone who is looking for good night's sleep in the heart of Phuket Town for a reasonable price.
Caveat: We drove a car. So that made it easier for us to move around town.
PS: Oh you should definitely try "Chom Chun" that's just around the corner from the hotel (3 minutes walking distance). Very good southern Thai...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNot happy at all with this accommodation. Originally booked in for three nights (via booking.com) but upon arrival I was extremely disappointed. The room is very small and the hallway echos so loud you can hear EVERYTHING. A cough, a sneeze, someone using their toilet. So I opted to ask for a refund on two of my three nights even though I was in the room for maybe 30minutes, I was willing to pay for the stay that evening. The property said no, absolutely not but we can move you rooms. Every room is the same so this would not have fixed the issue. Iām a very light sleeper and even with ear plugs could hear everything in the hallway. Ultimately, I think a refund of 2/3 is a fair ask if you are very unhappy with the accommodation. I also understand that I booked it and it was clearly my mistake. But would have been nice if they would have worked with me on a refund, even if it wasnāt in full.
Do not recommended unless you can sleep through anything and are looking...
