Boss’s Place? More like The Thieves Guild. Came here to stay with a friend and money was stolen from my room on the first day! As my friend had already been staying here prior to my arrival, he requested for the room to be cleaned. I turned up, left my bags in the room and we went to lunch. The room was cleaned during this time. Whilst being at lunch, I suddenly realised I hadn’t brought my money pouch with me and rushed back to get it. Came back to the restaurant and when I went to pay, I noticed the notes I was holding was a little less. At first I assumed that I had spent it and I was mistaken. The next day I went out and I had a number of dollars left that I wanted to exchange for bhat and that’s when I realised money had 100% been taken as bills were missing too. It very much seemed to me that the thief had tactfully taken a lump sum in hope I wouldn’t notice. After confronting reception (which is like a ghost town. Hardly anyone at the counter) they just looked at me confused. As he didn’t speak English very well, I had to use Google Translate for him to fully understand what my complaint was about. He then agreed to pay some money back to me then next morning. When the next morning came (and just as I had predicted) their stance had completely changed and they flat out refused any money was stolen and they also said they would not be paying any money back to me. They also tried to blame other guests staying at the hotel (despite it being just myself and the staff that held a key card). After some more back and forth, the receptionist told me to come back Monday as that was when the owner was in and I would have to take it up with him…. Come Monday, surprise, surprise “there was no owner around” and when I got cross the guy just looked at me and walked away. No offer to investigate/speak to the person who cleaned the room, no offer of compensation. They simply just didn’t care and treated me appallingly like I was the person in the wrong. He was more interested in what was going on on the television. So beware if you do decide to stay here people and make sure your money and valuables are on you or locked up at all times. Not only do I find it disheartening that this happened, I’m more grossed out that someone had been touching/going...
Read moreI reached the hotel around 10pm on Dec 31, 2017, and was told by a confused night receptionist that all four rooms were already occupied.||||Even though my two-night stay was full paid for in advance, through Expedia, meaning it was a "guaranteed reservation" (at least under US law, I've not found anything online about Thai policy).||||While the night receptionist genuinely felt awful about the mix-up, the hotel made no offer to look for, much less pay for, alternative accommodation (as required by US law, but once again this is Thailand). He asked that I call Expedia for help, and I felt a little relieved. They've been my first choice for years for moments like these, the thinking was they'd be dependable as the market-leader. I thought wrong.||||They could not compel the Boss's Place to cover my stay at another hotel (it's probably not the law in Thailand), and the rep could only apologise and promise that I would get a full refund in two or three days. But even with all their resources, Expedia refused my request for help in searching for another room. I practically begged, but it's probably not in their policy to render such assistance and they have zero liability in these cases - their "terms of use" conditions cover them from covering for hotels ("third-party suppliers") that screw up.||||I was left stranded in Bangkok on one of the busiest nights of the year.||||It's probably not in their policy either, but the Boss's Place did step up after Expedia hung up on me. They checked the hotels nearby and found the one room still available in the area: A serviced apartment at double the rate (and entirely at my expense, of course). Still, I am truly grateful for their help and compassion, which like hospitality and customer service has to come from the heart and not policies, legal disclaimers and guidelines.||||The Boss's Place is still unreliable though, and it's troubling that Expedia continues to partner with such hotels and leaving its customers vulnerable to the risk of being stranded, or even worse. After all, they've no reason to delist irresponsible hotels if it's profitable and there's zero liability. They've got themselves covered, just not you.||||So book the Boss's Place at your own risk, and it's entirely your own. You've...
Read moreThis was possibly the worst customer service experience I've faced in my whole life. This will be a long post.
First if all, the only reason we booked this place (through airbnb) was because it said it was close to Mr Joe's (a famous restaurant that we wanted to visit, we only had one day in Bangkok to do so). So first we booked the place with the instant booking option, and messaged our host for the name of the place. No reply.
So I typed in the given name into our GPS and ended up in a totally wrong hotel. At this point, we used the directions option on the airbnb app. Nope, terrible idea. We ended up in the middle of nowhere, terrifying slums to be exact. Not a place you want to look like a tourist like. Finally we type in the name of a restaurant located near the hotel and ask an Uber driver to take us there.
Finally after another 10 minutes of walking around we find this place (it matched the pictures on the app). But our nightmare doesn't end here.
We arrive to a poor receptionist who barely spoke a word of English to find out they overbooked the hotel. At this point we wanted to cut our losses and get a refund. Nope, that didn't work either. We tried calling the host but apparently she was travelling abroad... We tried calling the coowner as well, but he couldn't help either.
We finally gave up and found another hotel, the AIM which was beautiful and amazing. Book there instead, it cost more but it's worth it.
But our story doesn't end there either. At 1am we were woken up with a message from our host. She said she was sorry but her brother lost the key or some excuse like that. And she offered us to stay with them the next night instead... As if, we had a flight the next day, and we'll never go back after that experience.
Now we have to deal with Airbnb for a refubd, because our host failed to do so. Saddest part is, we wasted our whole day, and couldn't go...
