This place is a true hidden gem. I wanted to visit Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun) and wanted to stay somewhere nearby and also near a MRT station, same line as the one to China Town (Wat Mangkon station) for all the tasty food. The location of neil niwas is just perfect for me! It is on another side of Chao Phraya River (the nicer side in my humble opinion) and is a walkable distance from MRT Itsaraphap (which is one of the most beautiful stations in Bangkok in my view) and there is quite an interesting walking route to the back of Wat Arun.||||We stayed in a green double room with a garden view. Without having to be a time traveler, I could get lots of nice historical feelings of its ancient past while having a very comfortable stay with all modern facilities in the most beautiful heritage Thai style house I have ever experienced. I also love all the plant decorations in the house and a big lychee tree.||||The house has its own pier which is quite unusual. The owner could arrange a boat trip for us but the route depends on our preference. In hindsight, skipping going through the water gates onto the river would have been sensible as we were waiting around for quite a while for them to open and close.||||The owner carefully thought about all the details. Welcome puddings, Thai fruit in room each day, tasty soda drinks in the fridge and generous portion of tasty Thai style breakfast (I guess non-Thai style could be available as well as she asked us what type of food we would like to have for breakfast each day). I do like the biodegradable toiletries. (The bamboo toothbrush is surprisingly good I still keep it for using occasionally while travelling to today). And the bed is probably one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. I really wanted to ask the owner the brand of the mattress they use in the room but forgot. One thing worth noting though, this place is located in a quite area especially at night. There are only a few restaurants open at night within walking distance. If one doesn't want to have tasty dinner elsewhere (e.g. from China Town via MRT), there is a 7/11 (opens 24/7) nearby where one can get some hot tasty ready meals (just have to ask the staff at the cashier to heat it up...

Read moreBefore you even step inside the main building, you take off your shoes a small gesture that instantly slows you down and sets the tone for what’s to come.
It all begins with the hostess, calm, interesting, and more than warm. She greets you with a refreshing drink and local treats, but also with genuine curiosity about you. She doesn’t just check you in, she wants to help you create your own perfect Bangkok story, suggesting places, booking tours with a wonderful driver and making sure every detail is right.
The all-female staff (from what we saw) carried our luggage to our beautiful room, a space full of details that transport you to old Thailand. The 120-year-old building has been fully renewed, yet its history lingers in every corner. Waiting for us inside? Peeled snake fruits, ready to enjoy.
In the morning, you cross a peaceful garden to reach breakfast by the river, longtail boats gliding past as you eat food that tastes every bit as amazing as the view looks.
We were on a hotel-hopping plan and had to leave early, but we seriously considered cancelling the next stop just to stay here one more night. When departure time came, the staff was already outside our room, ready to help with the luggage once again.
Every moment here feels thoughtful, personal, and full of quiet charm. This truly isn’t just a place to stay it’s a place to remember.
You...
