We arrived at the hotel at 7am from our midnight flight from Tokyo. My husband was feeling unwell and I travelled with 10months old baby. The hotel was fully booked, so I asked for a nearby hotel for rest and shower before check-in time. ||Thankfully, the helpful and lovely front staff TOBY & NINA, was very kind to get us a room with low additional cost, and quick to help us with everything (luggage, hot water while we wait at lobby, showed and literary accompanied me to the door of a nearby cafe to get cup of coffee, .. just to name a few..). They made us feel comfortable after an exhausting flight. I was thankful and touched by how they make us feel welcomed and settled that morning. ||Talking about hotel location, I personally like that it was located in an old neighborhood and inside smaller alley-bloc. It has its charm with restaurants and market with both frequented by local and tourist. For travelers who likes posh location, this might not be you. The room is clean with small elevator and hallway, typical of a repurposed building. It's not the most soundproofed rooms, but it's still fine with us, even the baby can slept weel.||But, the view from the rooftop is second to-none. Food is standard, but the hospitality is top notch. It's a short walking distance to the Wat Pho and across Wat Arun. Also a nearby MRT Station is 5minutes walk. With plenty of restaurants & cafe, 7-11, food vendors, it's a charming old neighborhood. ||We'll be back to this hotel if coming to BKK again, and highly recommend this hotel also for its value for money. At the check-out, Nina gave me cute hand-written thank you card with Pikachu sticker! too cute! I still keep that card with me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all Riva-Arun staffs for making my one-night stay at your hotel a relaxing and...
Read moreThere are about 4-5 hotels offering a view of Wat Arun. Among all, the design of Riva Arun resonates with me, so I chose to make a booking here. Besides that, I found their team to be the most responsive on their FB page.
Booked a night in the Studio room and 2 nights in Deluxe. Both room types are well equipped. I like the smart use of their limited space, in particular the bathrooms. Ability to swivel the television set as well is a nice plus, considering the lack of space. While the balcony might be small it still very functional and one can comfortably step out for fresh air. Great lighting system including floor lights. Not a common thing but very pleasant to have in the night. All in all the level of thought put into designing this hotel is definitely commendable!
Staff were mostly helpful. K'Dear in particular, was a champ and did an excellent job checking me in, checking me out and arranging the room transfer in between. (One small observation: The other female staff tend to be overly engaged with their computers at the reception and at times looking very solemn/unwelcoming. A common problem that the mgmnt might need to be careful of, especially since the elevator is just next to the reception).
With the way the rooms are designed, housekeeping & maintenance teams must have done a tremendous job ensuring the rooms are kept looking almost brand new and absolutely clean. Very pleasant experience and kudos for that too.
Overall a great stay in a great community - rich in heritage and vibrant food scene. I'd recommend everyone to at least try it out. Bangkokians for staycation or visitors who really should take a break from Sukhumvit/Sathorn and explore the unique community...
Read moreI recently stayed at this hotel, and while its proximity to Wat Arun and the famous Rangros Restaurant is a definite plus, my overall experience was unfortunately marred by several issues. Cleanliness was a significant concern during my stay. I was shocked to find a chunk of hair in the middle of the room, which made me question the thoroughness of the housekeeping. The bathroom was another disappointment; it had a persistent unpleasant odor, which made using it an uncomfortable experience. Moreover, the hotel offers no amenities, which was quite surprising given its location. We were also disappointed to find that only one toothbrush set was provided, despite booking the room for two people. It’s small details like these that can significantly affect the comfort of a stay. Unfortunately, we were assigned a room on the first floor, which meant that despite the hotel's location near the river, we missed out on any potential river view. I should have done more research beforehand, but it was still disappointing. On a positive note, the service was good, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel is located next to the famous Rangros Restaurant, which is convenient for food lovers, but be aware that reservations are strictly required. Chanced upon this ThaiChin fusion restaurant 5mins walk away called "TANA". We actually went back twice for its 'NAD RA' (MUST TRY!). In summary, while the location is convenient, the lack of cleanliness, amenities, and minor oversights in room preparation made this stay less enjoyable than it could have been. I hope the hotel management addresses these issues for...
