Baan Kudichin Museum: Preserving Thai-Portuguese Heritage Nestled near Wat Kanlayanamit, Baan Kudichin Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the historic Thai-Portuguese community that dates back 250 years. This museum, originally a home of a Catholic family, showcases the rich heritage of the Kudichin area, combining cultural artifacts and stories that trace the community’s evolution since the days of old Siam. Visitors can explore sections dedicated to the arrival of the Portuguese, local history, and preserved family memorabilia across its multi-story layout. The rooftop gallery even offers beautiful views of the Chao Phraya River and nearby landmarks like Santa Cruz Church. Inside, you’ll find captivating exhibits, including the legend of the “Rooster of Barcelos,” which symbolizes honesty and resilience. The ground floor houses a cozy café and souvenir shop where visitors can enjoy Portuguese-influenced snacks like the “sapparod,” a unique pastry filled with spiced pork. Entry to the museum is free, making it an accessible stop for those eager to learn about the unique cultural blend of Thailand and Portugal. Just a short boat ride or walk from Wat Kanlayanamit, Baan Kudichin Museum is a must-visit for history buffs and culture enthusiasts alike.

Beautiful little museum and coffee shop. It showcases the history of Portuguese-Thai relations in the past century. The Portuguese were the first European country that had trade relations with Thailand, formerly known as Siam. Reaching back to the Ayutthaya period in the 17th and 18th century (Ayutthaya was destroyed and fell to the Burmese in 1767). This quaint house introduces the visitor to the influence of Portuguese in every day life in Thailand. Including vocabulary that was adopted in the Thai language. The coffeeshop is nice as well. The whole neighborhood is worth a visit.

A lovely small local museum with cafeteria. This house is dedicated to the community and turn to local museum. The story inside is over hundred years history of community that Thai Portuguese and Chinese live together from Ayutthaya period, very interesting. Also they have a cafeteria inside serve with good coffee dessert and food. Staff are nice and friendly. This musume is located in the middle of community area you can only access by foot. However the nearest parking space is in Kallayannamitr Temple. Also, boat trip is recommended for this area.
