Stayed here around a year ago. It was unforgettable, in the worst way possible. Staff were rude and racist upon entry, making fun of my Egyptian in-law. The room was also dirty, with hair, someone's old necklace, white stains on the floor, the kettle had left over water in it. There was no free water in the room. When we called someone about the room, he said theres nothing I can do for you all our staff has gone home. We told him this was unacceptable, and he made it personal by saying "ma'am you seem like you have a big temper". ???. How can you work in hospitality and speak that way. I couldn't sleep at night as the room was facing a nightclub, and you heard everything. My sister put a review up on how rude the staff were and how the room was dirty. The following morning before check out there were persistent knocks on my door, even though I had the do not disturb sign up. I had asked them to go away from inside but they wouldn't stop knocking. I didn't need room service as I was leaving in an hour at that point. Once I opened the door two ladies barged in, seemingly the chief of cleaning and the cleaning lady. They would not leave me alone, asking me to delete the review and apologising profusely, but then asking to delete the review. They tried to guilt trip me and tell me that the cleaning lady was poor and would lose her job, however it is not my fault that she did her job incorrectly, her personal situation should not be made known to me. The ladies stayed in my room for probably 30 minutes, trying to bargain with me to delete the review on tripadvisor and booking.com, which I could not even do as it wasn't me who posted the review. Once they left I went to check out, and I requested the names of the people at reception who worked the night before that were rude, and a lady overheard me and pulled me to the side. She was the manager of the hotel. She spoke to me alone for another 30 minutes, apologising for what had happened, then continuing to ask me to delete the review and that it would hurt the brand. She said this was unusual for the hotel but Ive read plenty of reviews that sounded the same. To conclude, the apology definitely was not genuine, as it kept circling back to deleting the review. I was offered a free lunch at the hotel, but honestly I was just grateful to get out of the nightmare.

The only positive is that the hotel itself is actually very beautiful, and has a great pool. Shame it has old unclean rooms, and the staff does not take care of it how it should.

Don't waste your money or time, theres plenty of nicer hotels...

Mistreatment and hidden charges

I have booked at ElMouradi Gammarth, we were a group who booked from several different websites. For the first group who booked a suite, the front desk denied at first that they had a reservation and after making them wait for some time they said oh yeah we found your reservation.

For us, it was a much worse experience, a terrible one. They denied our reservation and left us hanging and arguing for an hour and then after contacting Agoda, then they miraculously found the reservation but told us we cannot be showed to our room we have to stay and wait as we payed a low rate for a room at Elmouradi. For your information, this price was around 121 USD per night, which was the price that was advertised by THEM on Agoda, and we booked it and they confirmed. If I knew I will be mistreated and humiliated on this day and not given a room I wouldn’t have made this booking, as us as a group we had a wedding that we were traveling for in that day.

After another half an hour and after embarrassing and keeping us waiting for a total of an hour and a half, and after making several phone calls, and delaying us from our plans, they showed us to a DIRTY room with NO Air conditioner, dirty carpet and with only one bed, while we picked a twin bed room, and told us no, this is a two bed but we joined them together. What kind of a joke is this.

After complaining about the room, they told us if you want to be moved you have to pay an extra 50$ and we will move you to a better room. I felt like I was bargaining with a street vendor not in a hotel.

Until now I don’t know what was the difference between the two rooms and why did they advertise for a price and scam us to pay an extra 50$ or is it a booking with hidden charges. It was a terrible experience, my mom is an old lady, they have caused her distress, they don’t care about hospitality or customer care, it was hard to communicate with them, they don’t seem to take their bookings seriously or if they would just over-book the hotel and mistreat you and make you suffer the consequences by paying the difference. Shameful treatment and rude staff. Spare yourself the mistreatment and headache and book in a more...

I started by telling my experience in this hotel, which is a 5* , which actually for its quality deserves a 3 * . Well I decided to clarify it on the internet because I am a mystery client and I must do it so that in the near future the same thing does not happen to someone else. I was recommended in the ( Marsa clinic ) where I did my cosmetic surgery , to stay in this hotel . ||||1 point , ||when I arrived at the hotel, I clarified that I will need help from the outside sent by the clinic, a nurse and an assistant, who needs to come to my room to change it curative and give me an injeção for blood circulation, I was told that there is no problem). then on the day seguinte responsible for the reception has given orders, that could not enter anyone to the chambre, what a lack of respect for the client who is in a very complicated situation of mobilidade. ||||2 point ||If there is an emergency in the room, the reception simply does not answer, a person can die if there is no help. ||||3 point ||I did my check , and they told me to pay a tax , well I paid a hijab lady 9 dinar , and the reception , one day before my departe they told me that I had to pay the tax . It is shameful that the disorder at the reception reaches this limit , to err is human , but they bothered me 4 times to call me my room , for this reason . ||||4 point ||||Regarding the cleanliness in the room is pitiful , dust everywhere really dirty , at my entrance to the chambre 3008 , on the balcony there was a glass of cigarettes and a horrible smell , I paid 700€ in this hotel for 4 nights . This situation does not happen in Europe, it happens in a country where there is a lot of corruption, and they do not act as they should act. ||||5 points ||||I have to be honest about the hotel staff , from the perspective of going to the customer , at the buffet and about 3 people at the reception that somehow tried to smooth the situation and were attentive . ||||A call of attention , to the hotel manager , to take charge , so that these circumstances...

Bedroom - dated, filthy, dusty. Housekeeping doesn't clean the rooms, just makes your bed. Carpets are musky and dirty. They don't vacuum the carpeted room during my 1 week stay here. Bathroom - Does not have exhaust/ventilator. So don't wet the floors. They only provide one small floor towel. Door is old and has evidence of water rot at the bottom. This is because there isn't a floor drain if water flows in the bathroom. So don't wet your floors! Shower - The shower head was faulty. The water came out from all sides of the shower head base. Water pressure is fair. Towels - They take your towels real quick but don't replace until later. They get the number of towels wrong and I have had to keep asking reception for an extra towel for the 2 of us in the room. They also do this replacement till very late. People don't shower at 8pm. There are no face towels or hand towels. No tissues either. Storage space - Great, enough for a week's stay for 2 persons. There isn't a ironing board and iron. There is a safe in the cupboards too. Power outlets - enough, but to be safe, byo extensions to power your items. Amenities - no provisions of dental kits, shaving kits. Only round soap, 2 small bottles of shower gel and shampoo. No cups / glasses for the vanity counter nor for room usage. There isn't a kettle in the room for hot water either. No room slippers either. There wasn't a remote control for the TV either. Had asked for this for 3 days during my 1 week stay and they didn't sort it out. Keycard - They only provide 1 keycard per room. Phone - You wont know the number to call becos there isn't a directory. Don't visit if you expect 5-stars because it isn't. The rooms and service need a lot of work!

Where do I even start... Maybe with the few good things. Checkin was easy, they (kinda) spoke english. The food at the breakfast was eatable. The pool is huge but not heated. Now to the (many) bad things: My room: The climate control only worked when I set it on the heating option. Cooling was broken. My bed was not properly cleaned and had way to small bed sheets. Luckily I brought a sleeping bag. The bathroom looked like it was cleaned at the first glance, but when closer inspected it was even worse. The cups to wash your mouth were not cleaned, the bathtub had some stains on it and the shower curtain was not big enough to "protect" the bathroom. The shower head was also broken. The hotel itself: The corridors have a carpeted floor that was wet at some spots and generally looked like it has to be replaced. The whole complex is nicely seated in between of the ruins of some other hotels and clubs. The beach is in an abysmal state. There is dirt everywhere and we were warned not to wander off too far because there are aggressive dogs roaming the streets and beaches. Bites apparently occur weekly. It's really hard to get anywhere because of the location of the hotel. Also it's hard to get taxis, especially during the rush hours. TLDR: Don't go there. The rooms are dirty, the beach is dirty. The surrounding area sucks. The Beach sucks.

The resort is rated 5 stars, however, it surly isn't. The room service was kinda bad. It took them 1 hr to get me ice. There was no kettle and complimentary coffee/tee in the room. Now the good thing was the pool. It's very nice for a swim and tan. There's a gym at the resort. It's kinda fine. The price was relatively good comparing to other resorts in the area. It cost me 220 Tunisian D for a double romm per night via booking. Com Overall, this place can be way better. There are taxi cars waiting right outside the resort. Avoid them as they don't charge by the counter and give a high fixed charge. You can wait for a taxi or order via Bolt app which is very common in Tunisia. There's a Carrfor supermarket vey 10 mins walk from the resort where you can buy essentialls/food. Keep inind it closes at 9pm. There's no pharmacy within walking range.
