one of the worst experiences Iāve had in my travels so far.
before getting there, we sent a message to tangerine IG account asking for a reservation and we were told that it wasnāt necessary, to just come. so we did, and after 40 minutes driving, we find ourselves at the entrance managed by two bouncers who try to prevent from letting us in, saying the place was full.
however, they did let us in, only to find a 20-people queue waiting to actually access the restaurant. we were told we would be called if a spot opened, and were left waiting for around one hour in an area that ā suggestion for the managers ā would be big enough to accommodate tables for more people, if only they wanted to.
once we were brought to our table, (~23:30) none of the waiters acknowledged us until we asked for their attention. and after taking our order, 15 mins later, the waitress remembered to tell us that the kitchen had closed at 23:30 and they didnāt serve food anymore.
at that point, we had been waiting for more than one hour and had talked to four different members of staff, none of them bothered to inform us about the kitchen closing times like is done in every other corner of the world.
what we hoped would be a nice anniversary for my boyfriend and I, was ruined by the inattentive approach of the most overrated place Iāve ever been to.
clearly tangerine cares more about the views and aesthetics than its paying customers, not to mention the racial profiling at the entrance by the bouncers. if you want to pay for overpriced drinks and food, thereās a lot of better places in tunis...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStarting with my favorite thing about tangerine, theme is so cute. Aesthetically the place is so well decorated and pretty. The waiting time was a lot but I genuinely understand that since itās a well known spot and everybody goes there. However, the two things I did not like. First is when we were waiting, we got something to drink, gave the money and was waiting for the rest but none was given to us, checked out the menu again and we were supposed to get 2dt back (I know it isnāt much and I am not bothered by the amount) I was bothered by the way it was done, the waiter didnāt say anything, he took his own tip. Now for the food, overpriced yes but kinda used to it but, we got potato cheese something, this was for 26dt and it was literally 3 balls of potato with cheese, all Iām asking is, either write the number of items in a dish like this, or explain it a bit when people are ordering. I really understand that in the end point is profit, but It just feels a bit like fraud. I still really like tangerine in general, but Iām not a fan of such behavior.
āļø Edit: Iām adding this after receiving no response to the message I sent them privately following their public story mocking my review. I had hoped for a respectful conversation, not sarcasm. The lack of acknowledgment feels disrespectful, and unfortunately, I donāt see myself going back after...

My friends and I were denied entry to Tangerine Rooftop Cocktail Bar for absolutely no reason. We were polite, appropriately dressed, and simply wanted to enjoy a night out. But the bouncer didnāt even acknowledge us ā no eye contact, no explanation, just pure dismissal, as if we werenāt āqualified to be āpermitted ā entry. The behavior was disrespectful, unprofessional, and frankly disgusting. The bouncer acted like some sort of gatekeeping overlord. It felt less like a bar and more like an exclusive boysā club where women ā especially veiled ones ā clearly arenāt welcome. If this is how they curate their crowd ā by silently discriminating and refusing entry based on appearance or personal bias ā then people need to know. A place that treats paying customers with such arrogance and contempt doesnāt deserve your time or money. This place does not represent modernity, inclusivity, or class. Avoid it if you believe in respect and basic decency. Oh and you donāt get your money back after you paid...
