I think Americans do expect a different level of facility and service than non-Americans. For starters, my room at night got to 27.5 Celsius. I called the front desk, and there was no English speaker to help. So I "slept" or tried to sleep in a really hot room. The thermostat wouldn't let it get past 24.5 Celsius which is about 76 Ferinheit. I think by America standards that is not a typical room temperature, especially for a hotel. In the morning, at 9:00 AM actually I had my host explain to the front desk, in Turkish that my room was hot, and the thermostat doesn't work. They said they'd address it. I return at 5:00 PM. Nothing has changed, and room still not cleaned, in spite of leaving the light on for cleaning. Still hot. Back to the front desk. Very hard time explaining to the staff. They said it would be an hour before they can fix the AC. I have a 7:00 dinner, and I'd like to do some work, and freshen up. Really annoying. Then you can add it is a non smoking room that smells exactly like smoke. The room has 1 towel, and no wash cloth. That's annoying. The bed is hard too. ||The lobby bar is not really staffed, and they don't speak English either. That's fine, I am in Turkey, but it is left without staff more than it has staff. There is a 27 inch TV too, which is weird. Either have a TV big enough to see, or don't. A little TV is more annoying then not having one at all. ||The hotel is safe, and clean. I can't see staying here or...
Read moreThe first time I went to Ankara was in November 2021 and I decided to stay at Point Hotel, because my experience with these chains when I had travelled to Istanbul a few years ago was great. However, it turned out to be very disappointing. So, for my second visit to Ankara, which was in February 2022, I decided to try Meyra Palace, and I'm so glad I did. First of all, all staff members could speak English quite well which was very helpful. The second most important point for me was the quality of the service. The service in Meyra Palace is truly impeccable. Something else that is very convenient is the hose-like tap in the toilet that allows you to wash yourself after you use the services. You might be surprised but as an Iranian it was very important for me and I wish more hotels would add this in the bathrooms. The breakfast is excellent with a lot of variety. It is close to Taurus shopping mall, just five minutes on foot, and it is right next to Canada Visa Application Centre (VAC). It may not be very close to the centre of the city, but you can easily take a taxi and you'll get there in 10 to 15 minutes depending on the traffic, and it costs only around 60 Turkish Liras to go down town. Overall, I would definitely recommend Meyra Palace to anyone who wants to visit Ankara and particularly to anyone who wants to go there...
Read moreI had an appointment from VFS which is located next to this hotel. There is a huge mall near the hotel whose brands are various and fine. However, its a safe , calm and wonderful area of the city. Regarding the hotel, employees are kind and helpful and the reception persons knows English well which is helpful for foreigners. Moreover, rooms are clean and most of them have view of the street. Beds are comfortable, tv is smart that allows you to connect your smartphone, thereby playing videos and musics, internet has good access in lobby and room. Furthermore, there is menu of various kinds of foods and drinks and there is an indoor swimming pool. I highly recommend this hotel for relaxing or for the passengers who have an appointment in VFS global cervices. Arriving from airport to the hotel costs around 200 TLE and you can visit the downtown of Ankara with about 70 TLE. Having a meal in liver restaurant which is located near the hotel is highly recommend. To put my experience of staying 4 nights in hotel in a nutshell, everything is good and I hope to be there again and I hope other travelers to have the same wonderful experience of staying in Meyra...
