Montagna Hera Hotel — Hotel in Şişli

Basically, you get what you pay for.

Things I liked: The water boiler is excellent in that it heats fast. The air conditioner comes with many options to choose from. There is a small balcony with a table and two chairs (the view is not quite beautiful though). There is a big couch and one armchair. The toilet has a smart bidet. The breakfast is very good, it includes mortadella, different types of cheese, eggs, watermelon, vegetables, cornflakes, jam, bread, two different juices, börek, french fries, cake, coffee and tea. The breakfast lady was very quick in cleaning the tables. The hotel has a joint business with a hamburger restaurant that can be found in the lobby. You can order food from them and they will bring the food to your room. The restaurant owner is called Salahuddin and he is very kind. The cleaning service is very good. The cleaning lady was very sweet, she knocked on our door and asked us if we wanted cleaning or if we needed anything. There is a TV with many channels. There is an elevator that can take you up to the 4th floor (it doesn't go up to the 5th floor, you have to use stairs). The staff know English. The hotel is located not far from Taksim Square. The hotel is also located near a cheap Lidl-inspired supermarket called BIM (it lies under a mosque). The internet range was good. The hotel provides you with drinking water, coffee and tea, towels and even a shampoo/shower gel.

Things I disliked: The wardrobe is small for 4 people. The sheets are bad because they fall off. The pillows are lumpy. The sheets were a bit dirty when we arrived but they changed them after we told them to. The bath shower spray was not that powerful (low pressure). The four-bedroom has no bedside tables. The staff will enter your room for cleaning purposes when you are outside without informing you. In case you have a cleaning sign that can be hung on your door handle, you can decide whether you want cleaning service or not (we didn't get it, you have to ask for it). The water supply is overall very unsteady in the way that it goes and it comes. Sometimes the flow is weak, other times it's strong.

It’s terrible hotel and staff. Avoid the hotel at any cost, it is very dirty, dull and depressing, the staff aren’t welcoming at all, they watch and count your bites and how many cups of water and tea you drink. There was no toiletry in the (retired) bath, they put a small 35ml water pot in the fridge for each guest, the beddings are dirty and discomfortable, the floor was dirty and full of hair and food from previous guests ( check the photo with this feedback, hair and dry grapes) the location is very steep, the street is dirty and the view isn’t pleasant to the eyes, air condition was outdated and very noisy. Breakfast was ok, but for lunch it was always chicken, and chicken burgers for dinner, there is no open buffet or menu you can choose from, they fill up your plate in the back kitchen and put it on the table. On our check out day, they didn’t provide us with lunch even we showed them our booking that we have paid for it, they said we don’t provide lunch on the check out day, when I was back home I raised the issue with my agency, the hotel claimed that they provided us with lunch. stayed at the hotel from June 1 to June 4, 2024, in room 204. Quick check-in. Polite staff. Good soundproofing of the rooms. There is no noise from city streets. Prayers were heard from the local mosque 5 times a day, the first at 4:30 in the morning, but this is not critical. The bed linen is fresh and ironed. Breakfast is the same every day, but you can have a good snack. At 7 you can start having breakfast. The room has a refrigerator, air conditioning, TV, kettle. You can watch YouTube in Russian. There is an elevator, very convenient if you have suitcases. Cons: very dirty. It is clear that the hotel is very tired. Even if you just take cleaning seriously, you can wash the floor in the dining area, and wash the windows, walls, and doors in the rooms, the situation would clearly be better. The smell of sewage in the shower is unbearable, and there is old mold at the joints of the tiles. All this can be removed without capital expenditure, but with basic cleaning.
