Sultan Kebap & Fish — Restaurant in Beyoğlu

I rarely leave bad reviews, but my experience at Sultan Kebap & Fish was too frustrating to ignore.

Having arrived in Istanbul late in the evening, we decided to go somewhere local to where we were staying for our first night in Istanbul.

We saw a place which was empty and we were invited by the bright lights and a staff member stationed outside the restaurant.

First off, the prices on the menu in front of the restaurant were not what we were charged at the end – somehow everything was more expensive, and when questioned, the waiters were dismissive. No acknowledgement, no apology.

While ordering we were recommended by the waiter to share a mix grill between the group. He said it serves 2-3 people, so we shared 2 mix grills between 5 people.

Overall, the food itself was mediocre at best. The meats were dry, bland and we were offered no condiments or sauces to complement the food.

When we asked for the receipt, it was dropped on our table and the waiter disappeared to serve another table. We were taken aback by the substantially large bill and realised - we were charged x5 mix grills despite ordering x2 and the prices were higher than what we saw out front. Being with children, we had no choice but to pay.

For the inflated price we ended up paying, it was absolutely not worth it. This place feels like a total rip-off, with poor service and below-average food.

Save your money and go literally...

It was delicious and very good price for tourists place . The service was really good also. I don’t understand why so many bad reviews. They didn’t charge me for water and starters ( hot bread and olives in olive oil) , which , is cost a fee per person minimum 23 tl as “küver” ( service charge for table service , olives starters, water) , some places charging 45-50 tl per person extra. Some place charging as service fee 30% extra . But not this restaurant. They are so kind and treated me with sweet and tea coffee. The vibe is good, the weather is cool , the street is best in Taksim. I enjoyed my lunch here. I highly recommend this restaurant in Taksim . If I could give negative stars the numbers will not be enough!! Be warned!!! I visited Sultan Kebap & Fish on 22/08/2025 at first they were so welcoming and friendly basically forcing us to sit down but then I was shocked by how much I was overcharged. The bill did not match the menu prices, and when I politely raised the issue with the staff, they refused to correct it or even discuss it.

For example, basic items like drinks and pasta were inflated far beyond reasonable prices, and there was no transparency in the billing. I felt completely ignored and disrespected as a customer.
