St. Esprit Cathedral — Attraction in Şişli

The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit is the home of the Bishop of Istanbul and its priests and nuns are all wonderful people--smart, humble, understanding, caring, and kind. They are Silesians of Don Bosco, a world-famous Catholic religious order known for their vocation to help youth and build top-tier schools.

This Church does lots of work to help refugees in Istanbul and provide schooling and after school activities for refugee youth, regardless of their faith background. A great way to help refugees is by getting involved with this Parish.

English Mass is every Sunday at 10:00am, and the cathedral is always full because the priest is so funny and wise. There are many churches in Istanbul, but the interior of this Church is among the most beautiful and should be seen by everyone interested. All of good will are welcome.

The entrance from the west side of Cumhuriyet Caddesi is a small, white metal double door, and the courtyard with the church building is inside...

Türkiyenin en büyük katolik kiliselerinden biridir. Bir kathedraldir. Saint esprit kilisesi katolik kiliselerinin çoğu gibi sanat eserleriyle süslü güzel ve ihtişamlıdır . Ama kilisede ruh yok. Türk rahip var ama umursamaz ilgisiz ve bananecidir. Adamlarda iseviliği yayma isteği ve özverisi göremedim. Bencil takılan insanlarla karşilaştım. Kilisede görevli türk bir arkadaş ve ismi leon olan bir arkadaş yardımcı olmak istediler bilgi verdiler kendilerine teşekkür ediyorum . Kişisel tecrübelerime dayanarak genelliyorum katolik olsun ortodoks olsun protestan olsun tüm kiliselerde benlikperest , yoz liberal insanların olmadığı kilise yoktur. Yani katolik olsada protestan olsada ortodoks olsada iman edenler bencil insanları örnek almamalılar , yoksa yoldan çıkar düşerler. Kutsal kitaba iman edenler kutsal kitabı rehber edinmeli ,İsa mesihi örnek almalıdırlar. Kutsal kitap en yüce otorite olmalıdır.Ayrıca 1- Katolik kilisesi rahiplerin iddia ettikleri gibi tanrıya giden tek yol değildir.Katolik kilisesinin dışındaki insanlar ne olacak? Allah merhametsiz değildir. 2- Katolik kilisesi ilk kilisede değildir. Katolik kilisesi daha meydanda yokken asyadada avrupadada çeşitli kiliseler ve cemaatler vardı.İncilden ve tarihten biliyoruz.3- Kutsal kitapta katolik kilisesi ve papa yoktur. 4- Katolik kilisesinin suçları yanlışları çoktur. Haçlı seferleri , bilim insanlarını filozofları aykırı farklı düşünen insanları sapkınlıkla şeytana uşaklıkla suçlayıp diri diri ateşte yakarak öldürmeleri , bilimi bilimsel keşifleri bilgileri inkar ve taassupla engellemek , rahipler arasında iğrenç yaygın cinsel sapıklıklar vs vs.... suçları katolik kilisesinin kutsal ve ilahi olmadığının...

I visited this Cathedral on Holy Week 2025. It’s a beautiful experience for me. First time in my life i experienced mass in 3 languages Turkish, French and English. The Sisters give the mass book and its on 2 languages turkish and english. So i Can understand everything. The mass lead by the Bishop himself. I adore the care, focus and his energy is amazing.
