Eastwest — Hotel in Beyoğlu

We spent there one night in July 2015. The hostel is in a small street that we couldn't find very easily. When we arrived, the staff was very friendly, they answered all of our questions and gave us a map of the district. Our room was on the 4th floor and it was a little bit difficult to get up there with the heavy luggage. The room was very nice, the bedsheets were clean and the air conditioning was working. The bathroom was in the room, it was a little small and it was disturbing, that we had to throw the used toilet paper in an open basket. The hostel is located in a dark steep street. Almost impossible to find without a map. When I arrived, I was informed that the room was located on 5th floor and there was no elevator. The air conditioner was broke. Nothing looked the way it looked in the pictures. I was so pissed and the manager offered me a private room at 5 times cost of a dorm.. I took the room and when I woke up for breakfast, I was informed that it got finished... I checked out the same day and booked another decent hotel... Not...

I have stayed at East West several times and plan to stay there next time I am in Istanbul. Location is great if Beyoglu is where you like to be, just off Istiklal street, within easy walking distance to many places including Taksim square and Galata tower and beyond. Hagia Sophia, for example is only around 4km /40min walk away.||The rooms are basic, but fairly clean, breakfast is decent considering the low nightly rates. Staff is friendly and helpful.
