We had a most remarkable stay at the Imamoglu Pasa Hotel. We we stayed there two nights because my wife wanted to return to the birthplace of her grandmother. The location of this hotel is not especially inspiring. While certainly safe, it's not especially scenic, though if you get a room with a mountain view, that helps. We enjoyed strolling around the local streets, though, and seeing the small businesses nearby. But what really makes this place stand out is the exceptional service provided by the manager. I had contacted him in advance, describing how we hoped to see places associated with the Armenian community that thrived in Kayseri until the 1920's. He arranged for people from the Tourism department to host us for a day of exploring. He negotiated our hire of a car and driver. He met with us regularly to review our plans at the start of each day and to debrief upon our return. He helped us make our order at the delicious restaurant on the top floor. This even involved escorting us through the kitchen to see the different options. He was the epitome of hospitality, and he is the reason everyone should chose this place if they happen to stay in Kayseri. And while we were ultimately headed to Cappadocia, we were glad we'd had a chance to see this vibrant, lively,...
Read moreVery interesting small hotel with quirks. The positives: Hotel is located in a good area of town, but not right “downtown” which was a plus in our book. We had a nice sized, comfortable room; bathroom well appointed; bed comfortable; parking right out in front of the hotel, which is right next to a police station – we felt very secure! Staff friendly and helpful. Nice set of double doors (only one of which opened), which provided good fresh air and light. Negatives: Lighting. We thought we were living in a cave, as it was actually so dark. In the first room we were given, neither of the bedside lights worked, so we were moved to another room where they did – but honestly, it didn’t make all that much of a difference. This is a lovely property, LIGHT IT UP! Secondly, while my iPad worked just fine on the WiFi signal, my husband’s netbook did not. Consequently, whenever he wanted to log in, it was necessary for him to go down to the breakfast lounge. Not an impossible situation, but obviously the preference would be to work from our room. (To be fair, my husband didn’t even think about Ethernet connection, which was available, so had we had a cable with us, that might have taken...
Read moreWe stopped one night at the İmamoğlu Paşa Hotel, as we had an early flight from Kayseri the next morning. The hotel is a very fine business type hotel, clean and professionally run. The breakfast was good, etc., etc. It is also a pretty short ride to the airport, so this makes it an excellent choice when you have a flight the next day.||||But what I want to particularly mention is the management. We organized our own trip, so that meant a lot of communications with a lot of hotels, tour providers, etc. Mr. Ilhan, the manager of the hotel, was the best. He always provided prompt and helpful responses, and he quickly and efficiently arranged for our rooms and for our airport transfer. His professionalism and service were indeed very helpful. ||||I also want to single out a member of the staff, Hassan, who was extremely helpful as we checked in, and made extra efforts to make sure that we were awakened on time and that we got to the airport on time. He was very friendly and pleasant, and we enjoyed meeting him. ||||Overall, a fine hotel with good service. We...
