Where do I begin……our stay at this hotel ruined our trip completely. We were extremely disappointed from the moment we entered the hotel to the moment we checked out. Our friend was the first to land and arrive at the hotel, she was not greeted by a single person at reception. During check-in the staff did not give her any information i.e. wifi, breakfast, etc., which as international clients is discouraging. We had booked one room for the three of us, a king bed and a sofa bed. The sofa in the room did not convert to a bed, so we asked for assistance. Two staff members came in and spent several minutes tugging at the sofa to no avail, and quickly realized that the sofa is not a sofa bed, and instead told us they would bring in a cot. We then watched as for 30+ minutes their staff re-arranged furniture in the room, attempting to make this cot fit, but it did not. We asked the receptionist who was also present in the room if they could find a different room for us, as we had booked a room with a king size bed and sofa bed, to which she informed us there were no other rooms in the hotel that were unoccupied. We were able to get her to contact the manager, after going back and forth for several minutes, and the manager, Farhad placed us in a different room (guess there were rooms available after all) for which we expressed gratitude and pushed aside the first impression.
The room was boiling hot during our first night, we called down to reception, and were told someone was coming to fix it, after 45 minutes, we called back, and were hung up on. Exhausted from our flight, we eventually fell asleep. In the morning we sought help from reception, the staff at reception were HIGHLY rude and dismissive, and would not even attempt to listen to what we had to say. Farhad (manager) was at reception, and eventually informed us that the A.C is central, and they were in the season where they turn on the heat and not A.C. We were told to open our windows, as this was the best they could do. We barely got any sleep during our stay here, the hotel is located on a very busy road, and with the windows open (or closed as we discovered) all you hear throughout the night is dogs barking, cars driving by, and constant honking.
In terms of the room itself, the main room was not too bad, the bathroom was in need for renovations, with mold along the edges of the shower, and issues with the shower heads. The room service for breakfast was good as well and was only 100 lira per person. Laundry, however, was a bit of a pain to get organized, we called reception, were hung up on several times, at reception after asking several times we were told to bring it down, which was no issue for us. However, laundry itself was 200 lira, which the hotel should have disclosed prior. The wifi in the rooms, was also atrocious at best, prompting us to just purchase a sim and data plan. The entire hotel including the room we stayed in, reeks of cigarette smoke.
Overall, it is the reception staff at the hotel that ruined our stay. They were rude and condescending from the moment of our stay till our departure. Although we may not speak the language, it is not difficult to interpret when you are being spoken about negatively, which occurred several times to us while in the lobby area. The reception staff, would constantly hang up on us, ignore our asks until we came down to the lobby and asked again, overall, it was the most frustrating experience. We were not helped with our bags at any time either. If you are an international client, please avoid this hotel. There are several amazing hotels in the area including Swiss Otel, DoubleTree by Hilton, Hyatt Regency. The only possible positive was the housekeeping staff that cleaned our room during our stay, despite not speaking a word of English, she was one of the only staff members that was willing to use Google translate and attempt to communicate with us, at this point she should be working...
Read moreStayed here as a couple for a week. Before we came we requested a room with a bath was told ok. Got to hotel was told no you don’t have a bath no rooms have baths so why would you reply yes to our request. Our room was ok basic only one English Chanel sky news. Went to use indoor pool and was told by staff member it’s very cold and not heated this was true absolutely freezing could not get in saw other people attempt to get in and see how cold it was and not get in and leave I asked reception can to turn heating in was told flat out no. There was an outdoor pool which we were very look ing forward to as the heat when we were here was in high 20s this was closed asked reception again was told it’s not open yet being end of April and weather very hot this is not acceptable considering these pools were part of reason we booked hotel. Breakfast well don’t get me started was awful catered only to Turkish people, cereals bread cheese one type sliced meat salad more salad Turkish sauces. If you wanted to toast the tiny slices of bread there was a tiny two slice toaster which took ages so had to wait for ages to make toast. The juices were like squashes nasty,The whole time we could only eat cereals or toast that was it. Housekeeping had to be chased by us nearly every day as they never gave us enough toilet roll. Staff were not exactly friendly either did not feel welcome by staff at hotel at all. Would not come back and if I had the chance would of cut time short at hotel and came home. Spoke to other people staying here who said they did not like it and they cut there holiday short and went home early. Did not enjoy our...
Read moreThe Cordon hotel Cankaya Izmir Turkey what a beautiful. Hotel this is We booked a suite at this hotel that had 2 doors opening either end of the lounge area and another pair of doors opening in our separate Bedroom the suite was huge. This hotel has an underground carpark which was great for us to park our motorcycle in knowing it was secure and parking was all in with the price brilliant. The place is stunning our suite was on the top floor and we just walked out of our room down the hall way out the door at the end and straight onto the roof terrace where the pool was lovely and refreshing after 35 degree days of sunshine and nice and relaxing as lots of time we were the only ones out there. I have to say the staff who speak a little English along with our bit of Turkish were a delight to know they were all very helpful and nothing seemed to much trouble to ask this without a doubt is one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in some beautiful ones it was just a great week we had here. We would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend this Cordon Hotel to anyone wanting to...
