As a solo traveller…a transgender female it’s always difficult to find somewhere where I’m welcomed and accepted…the Forum Residence was this hotel…friendly staff Suzanne, Leyla and Rana…the restaurant staff and cleaners where just wonderful with me. ||So to the hotel itself…I was looking for a cheap break for a week after losing my mom in July going at a time which wasn’t high season and busy…I arrived just before midnight by Leyla, tired from travelling greeted me with a smile and explained where my room was…everything needs to be paid on a card which money is put on which is fine…it’s fair to say the room needs a bit of TLC as it looks dated but it has all the amenities you need, kettle, fridge, hairdryer and tv…I wished there was English tv in the room…however, a holiday isn’t about staying in the room…Air conditioning was £6 per day which in my opinion was a little expensive but it’s quite…I was on the 3rd floor and had a large balcony on the main road but there was no noise from the main road…all bars and restaurants close at midnight.||The hotel was spotlessly clean and has fresh towels…the pool area was clean, plenty of sun beds…the restaurant again clean…breakfast was a Turkish continental buffet…scrambled eggs, beans and Turkish sausage…normal white bread was available…to be fair it was fine…the coffee machine did have slops of coffee in the tray but I didn’t go down to breakfast until after 9.30am so it may be because of the use from the start of breakfast…the food in my opinion was really nice and competitively priced…the local beer cold as was the glass straight out of the fridge at 200TL per 500cl bottle…all food and drink purchased had a receipt of the price and how much is on the card…evening entertainment, Karaoke and Bingo which was fun listening to many people from Finland singing their karaoke songs.||The hotel is ideally located in Marmaris with a short walk to shops, bars, restaurants and the beach…the weather in September was 33-37c during the day and 24c at night…beaches are nice with free sun beds as long as you buy a drink…I went to Talk of The Town and Blackpool bars with free WiFi.||I’ve read some of the reviews and while I can’t criticise their opinion as it’s their experience, I felt for me I couldn’t fault my holiday and the hotel…okay yes there needs to be improvements on the rooms but considering we’ve had a global pandemic where hotels did have any income I’m open minded enough to think that hotels like Forum Residence are still trying to get back on their feet…this may be happening as photos I saw of some of the rooms looked modern and refurbished.||I had a wonderful time was welcomed accepted and that meant the world to me plus the mom and daughter cleaners showed absolute human kindness in the way they cleaned my room…I will be back next year.||Thank you all at...
Read moreMixed review as we travelled 2 adults and our 9 year old son over the bank holiday in August. We arrived mid afternoon and were checked in issue free and sent to our room. Room was fine although the balcony was very enclosed as was an attic style room. Air con unit fan was located here so was no way of sitting outside given the heat it generated. Their was no view so we didn't use the balcony at all but was no problem. Straight to the bar which had a terrace looking towards the road and supermarket car park. This was no problem as quite a nice space to sit and watch the world go by. Drinks were not in my opinion at a competitive price and over priced for what they are. Much cheaper if you go for a short walk to the local bars. In my opinion, this reflected on the Hotel as we hardly saw anyone use the bar of an evening as its cheaper to go out. I understand a profit is needed, but when their is a supermarket next door with Effes for £1.20 its going to be the difference. We were B&B and only eat twice as was not the best as other reviews suggest too. We know it was Turkish Style but no effort was seen. Now the coffee machine. To be presented in such poor condition is off putting and most definitely dangerous, is beyond me as this pops up in most reviews and ignored by the owners. I love a coffee of a morning, but no way from this machine. Pool was OK and sun beds hit and miss with the usual reservations from 08:00. I will add that the pool is deep and has no shallow part to it that makes it difficult to stand anywhere. They advertise a kids area that has a couple of small slides. Pool area could do with regular cleaning as no where near the standards we expect of a Jet2 or TUI property with litter present throughout the holiday. ||Hotel location though is great, as in the middle of all you could need, so this gets the thumbs up. ||I found it hard to get excited about staying here although we did have a great holiday. The Hotel has so much potential and could do so much better. The reception team have great ideas for pool games, bar competitions and ways to entertain the kids that the owners should listen too and implement. So many people come away with a great experience, but ours was just OK. Fix the areas that need fixing and the hotel would be a great place. I say this as time is an essence and maintaining the regular visitors' is easy, getting people to go back is not.||Small things that made...
Read moreHad a lovely stay here for 8 nights. Room was cleaned regularly and fresh towels provided daily. Bedsheets we’re not changed daily but that wasn’t a problem. Staff was amazing especially Baig and Omar! Very helpful and friendly. Had to pay £10 per day for air conditioning which I feel should have been provided for free.
Breakfast was provided but same menu every day. There was a variety of salad, fruit and cheeses with baguette and a toaster. Scrambled and boiled eggs were provided too with juices and very tasty coffee and tea. Butter and jams were also provided. My 3 children got up for breakfast first day but after that didn’t go down for breakfast as there wasn’t anything they liked!
The swimming pools were great, couldn’t get my kids out of the pool! There was a baby pool and a bigger pool for adults. There was plenty of sun beds at all time.
We had to pay £35 for late check out as our flight was at midnight and it was too hot to spend the day out in the sun! Again I feel this should have been allowed for free.
In the room first night, we only have space for 4 people and not 5 so had a very squashed fist night. Day after and extra bed was provided. The room had a kitchen and wardrobe. Kitchen had utensils and cutlery and a hob and pans. There was a fridge and freezer which came handy. There was also a tv that didn’t connect to anything! We had two connecting room both with balcony’s.
I was overall happy with my stay. I would consider staying here again. Location was great, few minutes from the beach and in the centre of all food...
