Just as a back reference I have been traveling for 20 years and do the majority of planning myself, a lot of it on booking.com, and I've never had an atrocious situation like this one.
I booked the King deluxe suite for our last night in Uganda. The hotel (Ajam K.) whatsapped me two days before our arrival asking what time they could expect us day of check in. It took them probably around 5 hours to actually get back to me and they referred to me as Sharon which is not my name, telling me that they were fully booked and they booked us at their sister hotel with Same amenities and services. I corrected them told them I'm not Sharon and asked if they were serious... Unfortunately yes this message was meant for me not Sharon.
They reassured me that we would get an equivalent suite, the junior suite at the Grik and there was a pool. The catch was we had to go to the horizon to check in and then a driver would transfer us to the Grik. Okay it's all confirmed in text, We were okay with it, We get to the hotel to check in, We pay for our room, we get in the vehicle and we arrive at....the BEST WESTERN premiere?!?! We were very confused as this was not the Grik and no one had told us that we would be arriving at the Best Western.
We were then shown rooms of equivalency which were their basic queen rooms We said no we ordered a suite and We would like a suite. So we get it situated We have a suite. The hotel then proceeds to tell us the difference of what is due in payment...and we threw a fit and were very confused as to this whole situation. When someone from the horizon came to explain the situation to us we were told that whoever had our suite at the Grik decided to book another night which left us SOL, and they were simply fullybooked at hotel horizon... Even though I had a reservation I'd made weeks prior to us arriving.
Very unprofessional behavior on hotel horizon and worst experience I've ever encountered through booking.com which was the hotel horizons fault not booking and we did fully enjoy our stay at Best Western which we did not pay...
Read moreI visited this hotel recently during our Famtrip to inspect hotels in Entebbe for B2B partnership on Responsible Tourism Co website and HBS Hospitality Business Solution It's a wonderful new property just like all new hotels with unique touch of class.
They have acquired latest technology doors technology. So, contactless service is possible.
The teams were helpful especially Jacob who took time to explain to me everything about the hotel and then he took his time to make me appreciate this new property.
We also learned that Jacob had been working with other properties in Entebbe in the past something that he shared with me. He also attended one of our digital skill training workshop for hospitality business we had for accommodation operators in the area sometime ago before covid-19 pandemic.
I would have loved to leave this review on the app TripAdvisor page but at the moment they don't have an account on TripAdvisor.
When it comes to the new hotels in Entebbe town, I think this one to look up for.
Why? 5-10 mins to Entebbe Airport, close to Entebbe Travellers Hotel and K Hotels, Road Access, Botanical Garden in Entebbe, within a few minutes walk, Entebbe Water Front Marina, Lake Victoria, Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre, Entebbe Golf Club, Shopping Malls - Victoria Mall & Imperial Mall. 33 km away from Kampala City but close to most of Entebve Beaches and Government offices and International Organisations in Entebbe town.
The property has 2 outdoor swimming pool (Adults and Children) both look fabulous when seen from top of the property building.
Also to note, they have many meetings and events venues in fact my colleagues at Allied Venues Uganda wouldn't love to miss out listing this property on their venue...
Read moreI booked a 3 night stay here and did not even stay 1 night as the room did not have adequate anti-mosquito measures. There was a large gap between the door and the doorframe to the balcony allowing mosquitos to enter the room. Upon complaining we were told we couldn't change rooms because they were "fully booked". After asking for a refund in that case, they said they would change our room. New room had same problem but also had an adjoining room which wasn't locked, so ended up walking in on another guest thinking it was the bathroom. Upon complaining again we were told we would receive a refund, after having to be firm that this is what we wanted, they were very reluctant to offer it. I am still yet to receive any refund and it has been 2 months. Would not recommend...
