I stayed with my partner at the Egg Botanical View for 11 nights, and we had a wonderful time. This place is unlike any other I have stayed at, a wonderful casual mix of a b&b and a hotel. It has a casual and friendly feel, like coming home or visiting family, rather than that of a formal hotel. When we arrived we were welcomed by Henry, the owner, and he pointed out that there is only one rule: no shoes on the carpet!||The staff are extremely nice, friendly and helpful. They go above and beyond to make your stay as nice and comfortable as possible. ||The house itself has a lovely, airy, colonial feel to it, and despite that there is no air-conditioning it was not too hot due to the airflow. The interior design is beautiful and quirky and I absolutely adore it. Each room has its own flair and colours. We had great use of the veranda, for breakfast and during the day. The garden is lovely and teeming with beautiful birds. ||The location of the premises is perfect as well. For birdwatchers (as we became during this visit, thanks to a visiting Gaber-Goss Hawk) and flora enthusiasts it could not be closer to the Botanical Gardens, which will occupy you for hours, if not days. For food, the breakfasts you are served at the Egg are huge and tasty. Other meals are only short walks away, for instance at Cafe Java's in the Victoria Mall, that you can actually see from the veranda. ||Value for money is excellent! However there are some tiny details that would leave room for improvement. ||There is nowhere to store your luggage. A set of drawers, a closet or some available shelves in each room would help a lot, if you plan to stay more than a couple of nights and need to get into your suitcase a lot. We had one of the larger rooms facing the garden, so we just left it open in one corner on the floor. It's not ideal, but possible. ||The hot water is a little reluctant at times. Early morning showers can be a little chilly, as it is heated by the sun, but if you can take your shower a little bit later in the day it is nice and hot. ||The building is not the most sound-proof, so sometimes you will hear other guests or people outside. There is also a lot of building going on in the area, so sometimes there's a bit of ruckus from that. ||Overall the Egg Botanical View is peaceful, quiet, welcoming and will let you relax ind beautiful and friendly surroundings. I completely recommend a stay at this place, and will...
Read moreThis is a small guesthouse offering basic accommodation. The small bedroom was facing towards the back. It had a large bed, mosquito net, fan and two chairs. The bathroom was small with shower in the middle of it. Free WiFi was provided. While the room is very basic the location is really nice, in a quiet neighborhood. It is 15 minutes drive from the airport - the hotel arranged our taxi for the drop off for 10 $. Five minutes walk take you to a small mall with a row of souvenir shops in front in case you need to do some shopping. The hotel's garden is right next to the botanical gardens. You can observe the birds flying above, some doing a quick stop in the hotel's garden. The entrance to the botanical garden is one minute's walk and entrance fee is only 3 $ - so it is perfect to go for a walk there - the gardens stretch down to the Victoria lake. While they don't cook food they have a menu of a nearby restaurant. You can make your pick and they call the restaurant to get the meal delivered so you can eat it at the hotel. The food was very good, was presented nicely (not some crappy paper plates) and arrived on time. We wanted to check out two hours later which was granted without...
Read moreI had a great time in the Egg Botanical View.||||The location is perfect: botanical garden, Victoria mall and airport are close. ||||The staff is very nice and it is easy to have nice discussions with them.|| ||The breakfest is excellent. Its owner, who has lived for 25 years in the UK, prepares it himselfes in order to guarantee best hygiene. ||||The rooms are also very good. There are some things that don't work, for example the shower is not really warm, but this is Uganda and not the west!!!! When you are a volunteer worker, doctor, or whatever and you have normal expectations related to the country the egg botanical view is an excellent adress where you will be treated very friendly and you can stay on high standard. I will go here when I come...
