That was my exact reaction when I stayed at the hotel about two weekends ago. Where do I even begin with this review.||||The service here was average. ||Bad because the staff was extremely slow. Bills took tens of minutes to come. I had asked for boiled water as I was unwell, it took about 45 minutes to arrive. Despite all this, the wait staff were polite (well majority were). The lady at the front desk really tried to help us a number of times we had issues.||||The food (I don't know how to rate this)||The good. The food was good, however I would have preferred an option of veggies to accompany the food as I prefer less starch and more vegetables (leafy greens). Breakfast was a huuuuuge disappointment. The first day they said they ran out of bread and sausages and all that was left was tea and boiled eggs. We had to talk to management to sort us out but we kept getting a different story at the dining room, so we opted to eat out thereafter||||The rooms||The towel I got was worn out with one gigantic hole so I was glad I usually carry my own towel when I travel. ||The bedding was clean.||The room maintenance while we were there, was average.||The room next door got a roof leak while we were at a wedding and ended up being flooded, if he hadn't left while he did we don't know what the state of his luggage would have been.||Wi-Fi was a problem. Since I wasn't smart enough to get an airtel line before I traveled, I could hardly get in touch with my family without internet. I resorted to sitting in a corridor outside of my room most nights. In hindesight this was fun for me.||||Prices||Pocket friendly. As the room charges were cheap, I was able to survive on a budget while I was there. Beers were real cheap too which was great, food prices were okay too.||||Overall. ||Some folks were happy with the place, however I wasn't. I'd rather pay a few extra (thousand) shillings for a better experience...at another hotel. ||A friend got a really nice place to stay using Air BnB for the same price I stayed here.||Experience is the best teacher and this hotel is not for me.This is a matter of opinion though, maybe give it a shot and see if it's your thing if you're looking for a place on a budget.||||(Side note: The hotel was fully booked while we were there - wedding parties, conference people and church guys - so the service may not always be this bad on a regular ol' day...
Read moreThe reception service is amazing. I often come here to swim and the pool is also good. But the food and drinks service around the pool is so poor that it really bothers me. I one time ordered some food, and because they were not sure if my choice was available I gave 3 options of preference. It took them 50 minutes just to tell me that none of my options were available and because I was under time pressure I left on an empty stomach and didn't want to risk ordering something again and wait forever to hear that it's not available, so I ate somewhere else. This is how you miss earning money because you lose customers because of that. Now today I ordered African spiced tea. You wouldn't think that would be so difficult. It took more than 30 minutes. How long can it take to make tea? Am already happy I didn't order for food again and I was actually about to leave and just get something somewhere else! Now with these negative experiences I am actually glad that I don't stay in the hotel itself, so I can't say anything about the rooms. But I wouldn't want this struggle to get something in my stomach daily. And next time I go for a swim and want to order anything after, they won't be able to sell me anything more than a bottle of water. No more food, no more tea, no more anything that has to come from...
Read moreThis is a hotel of inconsistencies. The staff are essentially very good and the hotel is kept very clean. The wifi is inconsistent and I am guessing partially on the room you have. I was in 613 and I generally did not have wifi. Having said that, one could sit in the reception area where wifi was always available. Whenever I sat in the reception area, there were always others there so I presume many others had the same difficulty.||||The buffet breakfast was not bad. It runs from 7am to 10am but if you arrive after 9am there won't be much left. ||||In the 3 nights I was there, I had hot water for showers on 2 of those days. I don't know why it was not there the last morning.||||I ate one evening meal in the hotel restaurant. My first 3 choices were not available so use the menu as a guideline only. The meal I did have however...
