When my wife and I were looking for a place to stay and hold a small wedding reception during the middle of the COVID shutdown, Prestige Hotel was our first choice. Though the lockdown meant that the hotel was in limited operation -- things like the breakfast (which we very much enjoyed on a previous stay) were not available -- the staff was more than happy to go out of their way to make our stay thoroughly enjoyable. They contacted another property which was able to cater everything and served us a very nice meal of local foods (other options were available, but for our guests we preferred local foods). ||||Our room was a one-bedroom suite. The living area is very comfortable, with a table, sectional sofa, large screen TV. The kitchen area has a sink, small refrigerator, and electric kettle. And while normally you don't need to cook in the rooms as the food served in the restaurant is very nice, on this occasion it would have been nice to have at least had a microwave to warm up food we brought back to the room from several nearby restaurants and grocery stores. The separate bedroom has a comfortable bed, with mosquito netting (though there were no mosquitoes to worry about), and a nice hot shower with good water pressure. ||||The suite is plenty big enough that even as many of our guests arrived early for the wedding, that my wife was able to do make up and hair in one room while others lounged in the sitting area, plus an additional half bath meant that no one had to intrude on her passing through to the full bath. Add roomy balcony overlooking the pool and gardens and you can see why we keep coming back here. But really, it is the friendliness of the staff that wins the day for us. From the guards at the gate to the receptionist to everyone else you might have reason to call upon, they are genuinely welcoming and glad to help make one's stay as enjoyable as possible.||||I know that there are plenty of other places one can stay in Kampala. But, this is our choice -- a perfectly lovely facility with easy access to the heart of downtown (2 blocks from from Africa Village, 3 from Kampala Avenue/Jinja Road, and less than a 5 minute walk to the central post office, Parliament, La Bonita Theater, some of our favorite restaurants or several casinos) and secure off-street parking. And, while they generally cater to international travelers, I don't understand why more locals don't take advantage of it as a great time to get away from it all for a relaxing...

Location - Wise, the hotel is conveniently situated in the heart of kampala, making it easy to explore the city's attractions.
