I've stayed at this hotel many times and in many different rooms. All have been comfortable, with free wifi, kitchenettes with Microwaves, refridge, snacks and drinks provided on a "pay basis," but also the opportunity to buy and use your own, and I do both. Comfortable and quiet sleep is my experience. Furniture with drawers and closet for clothes and flat screen tv with Multi-language channels are in all rooms. Sauna, no pool. I love the staff who have always gone beyond to help - just ask! But be aware, the office is open only 8-5, then minimizes to a watchman. ||Consider this more like an apartment group then a hotel per se, and this avoids confusion in comparison or expectations to something like a Hilton for example.||Currently there are no lifts but there is current expansion which will include 3, and a new 5 or 6 story brand new building to be completed 2017. So expect some growing pains, but it has consistently been a great value to cost. ||The location is premier, smack-dab in the middle of Deribosovskaya -the heart of Odessa. In the last couple of years, a community of little businesses has grown up right across the street including little shops for food, coffee, street-eats and boutiques and souvenirs. In nicer weather all the sidewalk cafes grow out onto the sidewalks. ||Several markets nearby make grabbing insundries and grocery needs easy.||I personally see this more as a destination for internationally traveling men and for international meetings and that would be the focus audience in my opinion. ||Although there are some minor indications of age, these are minor matters and quickly addressed when pointed out to staff. I look forward to the new changes and consider it a bit of a "home away from home for the traveling man." ||The owner, Scott, is interested in making it right and valuable with constant changes. There is a café/restaurant in the courtyard for breakfast and other meals and the new owners bring some zest! Best Carbonara I've ever tasted even compared to Italy and New York City! But breakfast is no longer included in the room price. Restaurants abound an easy walking distance from the hotel in almost every direction. In warm weather the courtyard becomes a small café itself. ||Be prepared for some construction pains at the entrance and ally way, but that's all temporary.||Come in Spring,...
Read moreEven though this hotel is far from the best that I have ever stayed in, it is in a class by itself for being one of the few that takes care of everything that I wanted and/or need in a wonderful stay. It is located in the middle of the main street of Odessa, right behind McDonald's. Yes, I've eaten my way through college in many McDonald's and over-all, they are mostly the same no matter where you go. If you go across the street from McDonald's, you will find a great steak house that has a great view of the street life and a nice park. I think that at this steak house I had one of the best steaks of my life. It was a grilled prime-rib," rareish". They even had a menu in English too. I get a kick out of people in different countries that I have been too, as too their reactions to my eating rare beef. They get sick just looking at it. I told the woman I was with, to close her eyes and take a bite of my steak and hers. Well, she ate half of mine and we had to share hers. Good food in less then 300 feet from the hotel, not bad! I forgot to mention that they close off this street with large boulders to keep it just for shopper and walkers. VERY NICE !!||If you go in one direction, you come to the Opera House, I enjoyed it! I've now seen the "Nutcracker" in many different languages. The other way is nice shopping and some great acitecture. By the way, I did enjoy my stay at the hotel and it has a very nice courtyard and balconies to enjoy and relax. They have a small resturant to eat breakfast in. It is included in the rental fee. The staff was very good and took care of me well! The counter persons, were always able to speak English and guide me in my needs. One othrer nice thing, is to take a short walk along the break wall, until you come to the Steps. Can't miss them! Just be health before you try to walk up them! Enjoy your...
Read moreThis hotel has potential to be 4 or 5 stars on Tripadvisor but since I have read other reviews from months ago about the coffee machine at breakfast it seems like the only way this place will get it and help others out is if they get enough bad reviews? I guess? So there is one automatic coffee machine at breakfast and you have a choice between different types and once a button is pressed it takes about 60-90 seconds to get a cup of coffee or cap or americano or whatever. The issue is everyone wants coffee. I stayed here for 5 nights and every morning I waited at least 10 minutes. The people in front allow their friends to cut in and everyone catches on and starts to make 2 cups which means each person is taking 3-4 minutes. Either buy another machine or have the staff make traditional coffee in a pot or something. Bottom line is do something to fix this stupid mess. The line for the coffee wraps around and gets in the way of the servers needing to get anywhere and also gets in the way of one of the tables with food and stuff. ||||The location of this place is great and the modern rooms are nice. The rain shower high up and over a sunken bathtub is a bit weird. You have nothing to hold onto except a glass wall as you try not to slip when stepping down into this huge tub in order to take a shower. The rainshower is too high up to really work good so then you are stuck grabbing the other handle to use that instead which basically means you are standing in a large bathtub holding a handheld spray to try to clean yourself. Location can be noisy with music from bars that last at least to 11 pm and most nights at 12 pm or even one night to 1 am.||||Look this place has potential and I like the vibe. Really like the outdoor seating down the hallway entrance and the breakfast location is below the main floor and nice. It...
