We reserve a table in the restaurant for our daughter 10th birthday. Correspondence went very well and prompt and we were promised table with the sunset view. On the day of the birthday, we arrived in the restaurant just after 5pm and we were given a nice table, but not what we were promised. The restaurant itself is designed beautifully and it is difficult not to like it. Wonderful view of Odessa, from every side of the restaurant. Beautiful ambient and very nice menu. Now, for someone who is not involved in the hospitality industry or better to say in the restaurant business, would probably be blown away and will leave this restaurant with lot of positive emotions and memories. I can't agree with that. I will elaborate; paper napkins, really? Restaurant on this level not should but must give a proper dinner napkin. Like this I had feeling that I am in cafeteria or fast food. Menus are old and damaged. No water offered whatsoever. Bread and butter, don't even think about. Waitress, cold, no conversation, no recommendations, nothing. I specifically asked our main courses to be served in the same time, didn't happen. My wife had her soup and main course brought in the same time, no cutlery for the main course. I had rib eye steak, medium cooked, served only with sauce in the side, no side dish offered. Yes, they are in the menu but.... nobody actually check if I do like to have some of not. Talking about the steak, absolutely not eatable. Tough, chewy and no taste which is weird for rib - eye steak. Waitress serve the steak and didn't bother to check if I like it or not. I had few bites, put the cutlery in the plate and I left 90% of it. Waitress was passing by at least 20 times and didn't noticed that something is wrong. At the end I drop the napkin inside the plate so she can see that something is wrong, and at the end she did notice. She asked what's wrong and she stated that many guests complaint about the steak. She offered if I want something else but I lost my appetite already. She offered desert on the house and she did remove the steak from the bill. Too little too late. I honestly think that our waitress and as well the rest of the waiters don't know the basic service procedures. Frankly speaking, after she noticed that we are far from happy, she was much better and attentive, she brought piece of cake with candles for our daughter and she did try to cover up, but unfortunately, when you have big expectations and you receive big disappointment instead, not much can be done. Deserts are basic and honestly, I had Esterhazy cake and it was far from proper Esterhazy. My opinion is that the restaurant Oblaka in Odessa is missing proper management on the floor at all the time. No visible management, you don't feel the care that you should. It's sad to see that restaurant with so big potential is working on autopilot and it is full just because of the view and the exclusivity. Seems like that is a big problem in Ukraine, owners of the restaurant like this think that nobody knows and understands the service in the restaurant and the quality of the food. Read moreThey kept us on hold ,me and 3 of my friends , we stayed about an hour waiting in the hall of the building and not the resturant! There is many empty spots and tabels , alot of people got in and alot went out , and we stayed on hold , we are too frequent customers, and this shouldn't happen and not even once did they stop us at checkpoint but this time they didn't let us in . In my opinion this nice place is going down the hill and is becoming trash , they even gave our table to other customers while we went for a smoke in our last visit , and the minimum money that i or my friends spend is not less than 50$ , service is gradually becoming awefull , very bad , nightmare , this amazing nice resturant is gradually becoming another trashy strict resturant with bad attitude and client service , with alot of RACISM !!!!! if you don't have a European face then i deeply advice you not to go there as of the situations that i havs lived with this resturant . The resturant itself has nice decor, atmosphere and view. But the attitude of the employees and the staff is really bad for any person that hasn't a European face . Very very very very bad in my opinion. I'm a positive calm and happy person , to say this means they really triggered my nerves. I don't recommend this place for anyone without a European face . I hope you have a better experience than me & i'm a usual frequent customer of oblaka , so make the maths people :) *Update : the funny thing is after waiting for an hour and a half , they totally forgot about us and the security didn't wan't to call the manager , so i called the resturant and asked for the mannager which came by only after 25 minutes , he looked at us without talking or starting a conversation, so i came up to him and asked if he was the guy i asked to speak with , his first phrase was the resturant is closed , we don't take in anymore customers, it was only 10:17 pm , then i argued with him and he told me 4 to 5 people + we can't let in , and there was other customers with non European face that joined us as we were waiting for the manager manager , so i explained that we are 2 different companies were he blushed and couldn't answer and i asked for his and the resturants appology , he didn't appologise and then held a guy and his wife and told them that the resturant is closed and they have a reservation on 11:00 pm but they came a bit early , he started appologising and saying that the resturant is closed now for new customers, i told the manager we are going now , thank you , don't hold your costumers , let them pass nevertheless they have a reservation while the resturant is closed by your standards ! To be honest this is the worst situation that i have been through and that was the worst situation for the resturant and the administration, very bad staff , employees and administration . Worst experience ever . Too bad this wonderful resturant has this bad of a racist administration, staff...
Read moreArriving in the afternoon with practically no customers to be seen. I found a table on the balcony without a reserved sign but with cutlery from the last occupants. After a wait of about 5 minutes a waitress, looking very unhelpful, arrived to take my order but made no attempt to clean the table. Minutes passed and another young girl appeared to inform me that the table has been reserved. Ok then I tryed another 2 tables without a reserved notice then to be informed that these tables have also been reserved. The only table which was possible was on the other side of the restaurant tucked in a stuffy corner with no open windows or air-conditioning...36 degrees. I decided to lunch in another Restaurant. I don't understand the policy of this place because there were so many young people working here but they were walking about like headless chickens or grouped together for a conversation. The Restaurant was almost empty of customers and arriving at approximately 16.00 was then told that the tables were reserved for clients in the evening. The young girl who was apparently the floor manager needs urgent training in Restaurant organisation. What a shambles..!!!! But for some reason this place is evidently popular. This was possibly my worst experience of Restaurant...
