Being our first international trip abroad, we finalized on this hotel after a bit of price research on competitor booking sites & reviews on trip advisor!
We booked a studio room (with breakfast) which is quite a basic one as we wanted to keep more money at hand for shopping and sightseeing! They do have bigger suites too for those who want better & bigger rooms! The bath stall was a bit too small & not very suitable for elderly people to use!
The front desk graciously allowed us to check-in before 12 pm as we reached the hotel quite early around 10 am and their usual checking time is 2 pm.
The room was clean and we'd opted for 2 single beds which we got. We had a direct view to the street & the Al Qudous mosque which is a beautiful sight especially at night.
As we arrived during Ramadan, 3 days before Eid, breakfast was served in our rooms daily. Post that, in the restaurant on the ground floor. The breakfast buffet has plenty of options & was well arranged. The main items do change on a regular basis! The staff tending to the breakfast buffet were always smiling and engaging with us, just wished I'd got their names. We order room service also a couple of times & the food was good, quality & quantity wise!
There is an electric kettle in the room and a fridge! So you can buy your own tea, coffee, milk, fruits, etc and keep for use, for the duration of your stay.
Location:
The hotel is situated in Al Nad and is walking distance from the bus stop & main route. You will find hair dressing saloons for both men & women, restaurants, supermarkets, laundry service & Day To Day shoppees, all at a walking distance from the hotel & you can get taxis from right outside the hotel too. We found the House of Ginger restaurant particularly reasonably priced and visited quite often and ordered delivery too! They offer mostly South Indian menu and Chinese options too!
We found it comparatively cheaper travelling by taxis as they charge about 14 AED. Bus charges 8 AED per person and we were 2 so 16 AED plus the added walk to the bus stop, so you see where I'm going with this.
As the hotel is located in Al Nad, it's quite accessible to the Blue Souk, Al Ittihad Park, Buhaira Corniche, Mega Mall, City Center, etc
People rank hotels based on amenities, cleanliness, room sizes, accessibility, etc. While all these are important factors in choosing the right hotel, I personally feel the staff play a very important role in shaping your hotel stay & the staff here were very courteous, helpful & efficient. Our check-in and check-out were both hassle free! I must say for our first visit abroad this was a great hotel stay & experience & I would definitely recommend Al Maha Regency Hotels & Suites for anyone visiting Sharjah on a budget...
Read moreMy opinion about this hotel can be anything but good. I believe I had a very good insight because I have been a guest in this structure for a long period of time due to business reasons. Where to start? Well, let's talk about the hygene level of bathrooms. They are absolut rubbish. Mold in the tiles' grouting (some of them are chipped or broken), thus a bad smell. Hot water is coming and going and the staff does not clean the bathroom with regularity. To continue, their idea of an "extra bed" is literally a worn out matress laid down on the bare floor with a blanket. Oh, the kitchens in the suites are also dirty, cupboards are old and the shelfs have more than a little dust and stains on them. Not to mention cutlery and pots (I found an old, dry noodle in the water kettle). The thought of putting those things into your mouth is not pleasant at all. The info about the amenities and services the hotel provide is not up to date. In the elevators for example you can see advertisment for a gym available nearby...there isn't one. There is only a free shuttle to the local beach. Prices on the menus for room service are not updated as well, just add a couple of AED and you'll be fine though. Room service is not great either, the staff forgot to bring me forks and knives on different occasions, so I had to go down to the lobby and get them myself. Internet connection is slow, you can do basic stuff but skype calls will drop and freeze literally every couple of minutes. Let's see, what else? Uh, bigger suites (4 beds) have not enough storage space for everybody's clothes, and additional space is not an option, don't bother asking. Last but not least, I could only pay cash due to the fact that I negotiated the price for a prolonged stay. So, in the end I really cannot recommend this establishment, especially if you are travelling for pleasure and you expect a bit of a treat. There are many other alternatives around Sharjah so be advised. This place needs to step...
Read moreEverything is bad starting from the reception, especially the reception incharge manager (mahmood). He is disrespectful and aggressive. Also the reception staff, they do not have any credibility in dealing with customers They don't even have the slightest way to deal. They talk disrespectfully and rudely. And they are not welcoming the customers. They don't care you're old customer or no. They only think about how to collect money. They don't care even if you are relaxed in your room or no. How many buildings I lived in in my life. I didn't face the worst dealing that I had ever in my life from those staff. It is an old building. The room is dirty, old furniture and dusty room all the time. If AC is opened, you will receive too much dust from it. Worms in bathroom, Cocrackes everywhere and bug beds. The tap water is not suitable for washing or showering at all. I became sick from it. I was living 2 years and half approximately in this building. I became sick many times and I went to hospitals. They told me Maybe you were using unsuitable water. I told yes, that's right. IF you want to know how dirty it is?. You JUST inhale the water into your nose (like you perform ablution). You will feel like gas mixed in it 😒. My hair fell down too much. And also I went to clinic to fix my teeth. Because also damaged from this water. In abbreviation, It is the worst building that I lived in. And I regretted a lot that I lost 2 years and half from my life lived in this corral. I don't recommend anyone, not only to stay in this corral, even crossing its street. Better for you. I informed you the fact. And God is witness on my speech. Thanks to the staff who was good with me only, such as Apsar (housekeeper),...
