On arrival to Train station we did go the wrong way its not towards the co op its up the road (so turn right not left . (Lions on the wall ) As read on previous reviews don't be put off by the outside the inside more than makes up for it. We booked a twin room but there was actually 3 beds in the room so handy to know if you are away with friends. Bedding was lovely, all very clean and well presented. plenty of tea and coffee, shampoos, soaps tv in the room and a fridge and a futher r tv in the other room which holds the 3rd bed bit like an extension. Nice modern bathroom & shower cubical. We was on the back of the building overlooking a very nice garden ( room 2) so very quiet no noise at all from the road. Heating was on at tea time so came back to a warm room but turned it off as we was too hot.
BEDS VERY COMFY !!
There's a nice woodland path you can walk into town takes about half hour which is nice. Taxi back was £5.50 in the day and £8 ish in the evening.
My only 2 things i would comment on would be (1) As we are away for a break we would of liked breakfast to be served till 10. 10.30 as we would of liked a bit more of a lie in as breakfast was till.9.30 so had to be up at 8am to shower and wake up.
( 2 ) For me personally i don't like sharing my breakfast table with other people and would prefer a smaller table for just us, id rather chat quietly to who i've gone away with, as friendly as other guest are its just nice to have your own space in the morning to come around :)
Really lovely host and breakfast wide range cooked brekkie came out very piping hot and there was plenty of juice and cereals too.
All in all a very pleasant stay nicely decorated relaxing place and would consider maybe a 2 night stay sometime. And many thanks to the host for holding our bags so we could go back into town Sunday a.m before our train journey...
Read moreI returned to Clematis House for a third time and had another great stay. This time, I was given a lovely room on the upper floor, overlooking the garden. (I still haven't quite worked out how the whole house is configured, but it's a really big space). This room like both of the others turned out to be incredibly quiet, as it was completely off the road, and so I slept brilliantly.
Karen is such a warm person and gave me a lovely welcome when I arrived. She also attends to all of the smallest of details with great care and forethought: there is always a lot of tea, coffee and lovely biscuits in the room - just great after the rush out of London. I love the extra sheet that has been carefully placed under the duvet to ensure that guests have a choice of bedding, depending on the weather. There is a full black out blind, together with curtains, so that the room is completely dark which makes for restful sleep. The towels, bath mat etc. are also changed everyday.
I will definitely come back here, as this is practically now 'a home from home'! Thank you...
Read moreExcellent B&B a short walk from the railway station. Car parking available. This is a charming house, though there are presently no outside signs advertising it, apart from the street number. However, there a warm welcome from the owners and I was taken up to my room through a lovely hall and stairs adorned with artefacts and pictures. Everywhere was well decorated and spotless. My room had twin beds, both of which had very good sheets, covers and pillows. There was a TV and a nice welcome tray. The bed was very comfortable. The ensuite shower room was immaculate and shining with cheerful good quality electionpatterned towels. Breakfast was not included in my room rate but was taken in a nice dining room overlooking a pleasant rear garden. Great selection of cereals, fruits and juices, followed by a good English breakfast with delicious sausage, and all for £7.50.||Very convenient and...
