I needed somewhere to sleep for one night after a liquid reunion with an old friend. No frills needed. Cheap and cheerful would do.||At £52 this fitted the ‘cheap’ requirement but the previous reviews were generally poor so I didn’t have great expectations regarding the ‘cheerful’ part!||I was wrong.||The accommodation is housed in two buildings, of which I was placed in the one at the rear of the car park (which can accommodate up to 8 cars) behind the main house on the Gloucester Road, and to gain access I needed to obtain entry codes for both the main door and the room key locker. One phone call to Roomsbooked, who handle all of the bookings for Central Studios, I had the numbers on my mobile phone and was in.||What a pleasant and unexpected surprise. It was a small, neat and clean room with a single bed, wardrobe, fridge, microwave, Freeview TV, hairdryer, kettle, sink and tea/coffee making equipment. I’d had reservations about the shared toilet but need not have worried as there were two of them, well equipped containing both a toilet, hand basin and shower, so the likelihood of possible embarrassing encounters never arose. MOST IMPORTANT – if using the toilets MAKE SURE YOU TAKE YOUR ROOM KEY WITH YOU, as the door to your room might close behind you and without the key you are unable to get back in!!||Although there is a railway line right behind the property is seems to be very lightly used and caused no disturbance to a reasonable night’s sleep.||I have noticed that the latest review shown here was in August last year so perhaps the proprietor has taken note of the comments and has had some work done since then.||Overall I think that, for the price, I received good...
Read moreI never complain but feel I have to warn people not to stay here due to my recent experience. I booked this property off booking.com who were absolutely hopeless at helping me. I should have read trip advisor before booking as all the terrible reviews are justified. When me and my wife arrived the main building had the windows open and there were young girls sitting in those windows drinking alcohol...for a moment i thought I had arrived at a brothel..our "accommodation" was at the rear of the property, as we pulled into the car park there was a group of what i think were Eastern European road workers dressed in hi Vis suits they too had carrier bags of beer and were drinking and arguing amongst themselves. My wife did not want to stay as she did not feel safe but I convinced her to take a look at our room. As we got into the block we saw the door was propped open with a bucket of sand that had cigarette butts and a beer bottle in...the place stunk of BO ,..our room was next door to another group of men that were drinking beer and smoking cigarettes, their bedroom door was wide open and they had their filthy workgear and boots on the bed....we then decided this is not safe and left...as we were getting into our car the men in the car park were staring at us....this place must be some kind of refugee housing centre...
Read moreWe found ourselves stuck in Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire. We checked Booking.com for a cheep place to rest our heads till morning, before we headed to Oxford and we found Central Studio. We booked a room for 3, double bed and a sofa for our son. After few mins a very lovely lady called us and appologies, as this wasn't available, but offered a double room for £29. We was absolutely happy. All we needed was to sleep a little but , but we found a nice room there, with a clean bathroom on the hallway and everything what we needed in the room. Because we arrived very late in the evening and I was so tired, I made mistakes with the door code. We call the number we received for info and again we was lucky to have a good service. A very polite man took his time to explain to me what I need to do and when he realised I can't follow his instructions ( I was so so tired, poor guy 😅) he came in 10-15mins to the place there and open the door. We was so happy to be able to park our car full with a lot of stuff 😁 in a private yard. Great place and service for what they offer and if you don't run after a 7* Hotel. For sure we will plan to stop...
