Hatherley ParkIs a nice park but the trouble is the dogs are running wild and the owners have got no control over them I have been attacked by dogs a couple of times and I'm not the most ableist of people I have to walk with some support and the owners seem to think oh it's fun having a dog to do what it likes causing a problem and great fun watching your dog attack people and get away with it, and it is totally wrong! The council should get the act together and stop dogs roaming loose and owners not being in control of the little bleeders, and they should put them on a lead. It says that the park is dog friendly, friendly to who? maybe the owners who can do what they like, but not the poor defenseless people who are just going about their business. It's about time something was done about it.! So Five stars to the Park and one star to the council who allow unfriendly dogs to cause a nuisance So overall one star as I won't be going there again until I'm fitter. and then what great fun...
Read moreWhen Donald Campbell was looking for suitable venues to break the world water speed record in the early fifties he considered using the lake in Hatherley Park. He had read in 'What's on in Cheltenham this week' that the lake was twenty eight miles long. This was a misprint as the lake barely extended to twenty eight yards. However he took his Bluebird craft for a trial run and managed to reach a speed of 0.027 miles per hour before crashing into the edge of the lake. No ducks were injured at the time. Currently the lake smells like a Turkish wrestler's jockstrap. I would say it's only suitable for visiting if you're suffering from anosmia. It's okay, however, for taking your dog walkies. "My dog's got no nose". "How does he smell?". "Terrible". (The old ones are not...
Read moreI am absolutely in love with this park. We have so many great memories here and we keep coming every time we get the chance. My dog is the most happy when we take him to Hatherley Park. I feel this is the best escape if you want to enjoy a piece of nature. There is plenty of picnic area, playground for kids, lots of benches to rest. There is a pond as well, but I can't really take my dog too close, because he wants to jump into the water and chase the ducks. Many times, there are football games, which Monty likes to watch. A small coffee shop if you want a hot drink is also available. This was my lockdown escape and I will never forget those moments with clear skies and lots...
