Oh, what a great place to be, The Maer of Exmouth, with its beauty so free, A place to walk your dog, and meet those you love, With its meadows of grass, and the fresh air above.

The Rusty Pole, an old landmark of the Empire of England, A sight to behold, and a true testament to its grand, The history it holds, so rich and so vast, A sight that reminds us of the times that have passed.

The atmosphere, so calm and so serene, The air, so fresh, and so clean, A place of joy, and laughter so pure, A perfect setting, for memories to endure.

The meadows of grass, so lush and so green, A sight to behold, so tranquil and serene, The place to walk your dog, and have some fun, A place to unwind, and forget all you've done.

Oh, what a fantastic experience, To visit the Maer of Exmouth, with its beauty so immense, A place of joy, and memories so dear, And a true testament to the spirit of love and cheer!

I was cruising down by the shore When I saw a pole I couldn't ignore Rusty and old, but it stood so tall Guiding ships through it all

The rusty pole, it never let us down Standing strong, never letting us drown But then it disappeared, leaving us in despair Oh, rusty pole, we wish you were still there

Now there's a hole where the pole once stood Leaving us lost in the neighborhood We'll never forget the light it shone Guiding us safely to our home

The rusty pole, it never let us down Standing strong, never letting us drown But then it disappeared, leaving us in despair Oh, rusty pole, we wish you were still there

We'll raise a new pole, shiny and bright Guiding us through the darkest of nights But we'll always remember the one before The rusty pole that we adored

The rusty pole, it never let us down Standing strong, never letting us drown But then it disappeared, leaving us in despair Oh, rusty pole, we wish you were still there

So here's to the rusty pole we loved so well Our memories of it will always dwell Though it's gone, it will never be forgot The rusty pole, our guiding...

The Exmouth Mear is a large open space, which is popular for exercising your dog 🐶 Please be reminded to pickup your dogs poo and put it in the red bins 🚮 provide. Also the lage open space is used for children to learn to ride a bike 🚲 safely, and play ball ⚽ games, flying kites and many other things. The Maer also has several purpose built barbecues in an allocated area adjacent to Madeira walk, free to use check with local town council office for its usage, there is also a toilet block on site but has closing times, a secure and excellent play Park adjacent to picnic area with fencing and gates to keep the dogs out. Please may I ask that you respect other person's using these area's and that you clean up after use bins🚮 are provided in this area so no excuses please leave it as you would like to find it "clean". Next to the park is Exmouth Lawn Tennis club, and Exmouth Cricket club, and a little further along the access footway called Madeira walk you can find the Madeira bowling 🎳 club check them out on Google maps. The Maer was many years ago a golf ⛳ course I think 1901 ish and the club house was what is at the moment an amusement arcade also was used as Exmouth Zoo sadly missed run by the Smith family for many years, the golf course used to also cross Maer road to Mear rd car park and up little Valley? check it's history at the Exmouth museum shepherds Row off the Exeter Road Exmouth EX8 1PW, the Museum first opened in 1985 and is housed in a 19th century Building well worth a visit it has itself a lot of character features you can learn more about it and this historic town. The Maer is nothing special now. It is just a patch of grass over sandy soil with a road between it and Exmouth beach. It used to be a golf course and perhaps has other history. A children's playground fenced off, has been incorporated into a corner of it. It is mainly used by locals and visitors to exercise their dogs and socialise. There are plenty of 'dog waste' bins provided but no free bag dispensers as supplied in some other counties. There are also public barbecues available for use if you bring your own supplies. Tables and seats are...

Pretty open area back across road from Exmouth beach. Ideal for barbecues (has own fire pits and tables): small play park for youngsters and acres of grass interspersed with dandy holes. Car parking to the east end reasonably priced and of large size. Good for playing games, flying kites and much more. Cricket field and tennis courts also available. Western end of area going to be redeveloped so enjoy this open area whilst you can. p.s. - watch out for rabbit holes when running!!!

Cracking little beach, with great facilities around it. Clean and picturesque and never appears too busy. Great parking around it with lots of shops, eateries and simply spots to sit and take in the view. Sun rise or sunset are both worth being there for on this lovely area.
