Throughout our time here we had the ringing in our ear of a rather irritable and sigh filled young woman behind the bar who, when not sighing at having to do her job and take orders was talking loudly with her team members quite energetically. Why she constantly had to shout "who's next" when all she had to do was look up from the till screen that she was angrily bashing is a question for her manager, who, as it goes seemed quite pleasant with everyone we saw him interact with but for some reason looked ever so harassed which made us all feel quite anxious. He had no control over his team. The team were bobbing back and forth but actually achieving very little. We travel an hour away to come to this spot for a bit of lunch and to chill a little bit and usually all is good, the staff are pleasant and it is clean and tidy. This time, disastrous. Really not that busy and in amongst all the staff chatter there are glasses and food strewn all over and filthy tables. We had to ask 4 times for a cloth to clean the table which eventually came and we did ourselves as the server tickled the surface and the cloth wasn't even clean, much like the cutlery given. We always order via the app as it is especially difficult to stand at the bar for too long but on this occasion the grill menu wasn't available on the app and the staff that were told shrugged it off and said it is normal and out of their control. Essentially, tough and nothing is going to change which is fine I suppose as we will not be going again. Not just because of that but because the food we were served was insulting. My mixed grill for example, the meat had clearly been sat in a bath before making it to a grill. The Steak was dried out and full of gristle, the Gammon took some finding and was so dry that dust was falling out of my mouth. The chicken looked fab but was just mush which was much the same as the anaemic Sausages that were mushy with a dreadful flavour. I asked for no egg when asked about allergens but clearly that was ignored as pictured. This also wasn't corrected. I told the server as he dropped the plate on the table and he offered me a free drink. No, was the answer I do not want a free drink thank you. My goodness me. Pictured is the Bread and Butter. Add to that image that it was stale. During our meal another team member walked over and said "you don't mind if I open this window do you" to which we all replied that we do and would like it kept closed as we sat at that table away from the Draught purposely and nonody else was there. She just said "excellent" opened it anyway and walked off. Never have we ever experienced such incredible rudeness and around the world we thought we had experienced it all. In short the food and service has gone downhill so far that I wouldn't punish the neighbours dog with it and he ate my cat. Without good food and more importantly friendly or decent service, ultimately you have nothing left. Let's be honest here, if this place did not have the view it does and situated where it is, they would be closed by now. Perhaps why they can't even be bothered to try. No respect for the customers. Shame on Grene King for this one.

While visiting Exmouth early this morning to do some drone work in the area we took the time to visit the Bath House for breakfast. We were met at the door by the most charming chap, James, the general manager his natty badge informed us. James said we could sit wherever we liked, to be fair though we were the only customers at this ridiculous hour of the day so finding a seat was never going to be a problem, so we chose a delightful spot with a view out onto the sea. The views are a bonus at this venue. James informed us where we could find the breakfast options and we promptly ordered 2 Full English with minor adjustments (no black pudding or tomato thank you), James was really helpful and offered an extra hash brown instead, which was nice as some places (like McDonald's) will allow you to take items off but keep the cost the same. The food came really quickly and was very nicely presented on the plate. The first thing I noticed when biting into my quite thick bacon was the taste, it took me back to old family holidays when my parents would cook the bacon on the grill. We were very pleased with our meals and felt more than satisfied with the cost, which I should add was only £3.49 per meal and had more on the plate than some "All you can eat!" establishments. In terms of facilities, the toilets were lovely and clean and from the chart, I could tell they were regularly checked throughout the day. Parking was very easily accessible outside and if you are staying next door at the Premier Inn, I would recommend using the Bath House for your breakfast, rather than the in-house facilities (cheaper and probably better). We would certainly return and with such awesome customer service from James, it's now very much on my radar.

Showed up and spent 5 minutes waiting to be seated, staff walked past and never said a thing, so we ended up seating ourselves. Staff walking around swearing their heads off which was disgusting. Meal came, specifically asked for no sides, sides were there anyway. As you can see from the photo, the napkin full of grease was just to soak up what was on the plate when it came, the chips were soaked in grease and therefore inedible with how soggy and dripping they were, and as you can see in the other photo, the grease when I attempted to eat the fish was vile. My mum couldn’t eat her meal, her gammon was white, pineapple was burnt and the chips were obviously old. No one came to check on us our entire time here, even though one member of staff was having his break behind us, and another came to have a conversation with him, swearing at the top of his lungs. Absolutely disgraceful service. Won’t be returning here. Would’ve loved for someone to have come over and asked how the meal was, so I could tell them, but here we are.

Visited this pub on a Sunday lunchtime, along with a number of other families, all of us with children. We were sat at the outside tables. My wife had been feeling unwell for a time, and this necessitated her paying a few visits to the ladies toilet. She also took our daughter to the toilet a couple of times. We were then approached by two female members of staff, who said they had noticed my wife going to the ladies toilet and that they had found white powder in the in there. They said that they believed my wife had been using illegal drugs, and therefore 'for the safety of other customers' she would have to leave the premises. We explained the situation to the bar staff, and they appeared to accept this. However, the female manager of the premises became involved and would accept no other possible explanation other than her illicit drugs theory, and insisted we leave. The manager's demeanour and attitude was rude and aggressive, despite the fact that one of her staff members was by this time apologising to my wife for getting it wrong. This episode caused a huge degree of embarrassment and anxiety to my wife, who needless to say does not and has never used illicit drugs. She does not even drink alcohol. We found ourselves in the position of having to explain what was happening to our children, not something we would have ever have expected to do. I have extreme doubts that any 'white powder' was ever found, and that this line was adopted to fit the manager's deduction about my wife's actions. Even if the powder story is true, there was no evidence that my wife was involved in anything untoward. But once the manager had applied her detective skills, they're was clearly no way that she was about to accept any other explanation. Very bad judgement, total lack of any concern for my wife. Disgraceful attitude displayed to both my wife and me. The manager is clearly in need of some training in dealing with situations that may crop up, and to open her clearly very closed mind to other...

We popped in (locals living in Exmouth) on Wednesday evening as a change to our usual midweek evening out to see the premises now it’s been taken over by Greene King. Sadly, it’s still the same old establishment with a new lick of paint. We arrived in a queue with only 3 people ahead of us, however the wait was longer and longer to the point we decided to not wait any longer and walked out. We decided to give it a better chance and go back 5 minutes later, and assume it was just a busy rush. Arriving back at the pub the queue was now halfway out the door and still only 2 incredibly slow members of staff on the bar working at a snails pace. We ended up attending their quiz and decided to order on the app instead, this was a struggle due to little signal at the location and their WiFi being non existent. After persevering, we ordered some drinks and food which was ‘fine’ but nothing really more than that. As our evening was winding down, a couple friends at our table ordered a final 2 drinks to see them off. These were ordered at 9.21pm, and at 9.35 the drinks (a bottle of Crabbies and a mocktail) still had not arrived! Our friend went to the bar to see the holdup, and stood there for a good 3/4 minutes with absolutely no acknowledgement of her waiting by any staff member at all, again it was still the same 2 very slow gents on the bar. She realised they were trying to work out what goes in the mocktail, and returned to the table. After over 20mins the 2 mere drinks were brought to the table, and despite having 3 empty plates and other glasses on the table, the tray was placed down and no empty glasses or plates were taken away! Sadly, this isn’t even the height of summer for it to be this slow for service, and unless the speed of serving improves we doubt we’ll be returning as there is no sense of any urgency for paying customers. Shame as it has the best seafront location! But the high demand outpaces their...
