Overall we had a great stay. First the positive:
Pros: The location is fantastic right in walking distance to the city center and to highways. It’s right on the river with beautiful sites. The rooms with a view of the river are quite lovely. The breakfast was very good and even had made to order eggs. There’s also a refrigerator in the lobby with unlimited bottles of water for your stay and to help with your adventures during the day. Each room has a large window that can open. Plus they are one of the few hotels with air conditioning for those like me who prefer to hibernate while at rest.
Pro/Con: parking spaces are limited to a very small lot, but the lot across the street always had availability and cost the same £10 a day. We found it quite workable and convenient. Again, not a con, but not necessarily a pro. It was a 1 minute walk and felt very safe.
The staff was very welcoming and friendly. There was an older lady working breakfast who was a little up tight, bit of an OCD rule follower, but she meant well. You could tell she felt uncomfortable managing breakfast checkin which made me a bit uncomfortable. We felt a bit interrogated by her when trying to get breakfast. There was also an older gentleman the next day and it was a very different and pleasurable experience as it appeared he typically managed the breakfast crowd. He was clearly more comfortable with people, with a big smile and a welcoming word. He had us checked in instantly, and didn’t track us down for signatures to prove we aren’t felons on the road stealing breakfast. The rest of the staff was wonderful and very welcoming and considerate. We had some lovely conversations with a couple of them and a few remembered us each day when we arrived back.
Cons: Floors in the rooms were consistently dirty. We had 2 rooms, more on that, and both had dirty floors. The tile is such that you can’t tell, but if you’re like me and like or need to be barefoot in the rooms (after shower, getting in bed or getting dressed) then you realize very quickly the floors are covered in unseen debris and dirt that made me feel very uncomfortable. During our 3 night stay, 2 room stay, there was never a time when I didn’t get dirty feet.
Beware not all rooms are made the same. We had already paid for the most upgraded room so as to have the full river view. When we arrived, it was not at all what I expected or was presented in online pictures. The room was on the top floor and had a partial view of water, but mostly viewed a parking lot and a business. Plus, the room had a very slanted ceiling which cut out about 1/2 the space of our already small room. It was NOT at all what we expected for our 25th anniversary trip. I immediately went downstairs to complain to the front desk and see if they had any rooms that aligned with their room description and was told no for that night, but that they would make sure and get us a better room for the following 2 nights.
I will say the new room was night and day different and was a much more pleasurable stay with both space and view.
As a whole it was a good experience. There were some hiccups along the way, but still a positive experience with a...
Read moreOn a recent trip with Visit Inverness Loch Ness, I spent my first evening at the AC Marriott Hotel and I have to say its beautiful and on approach almost feels out of character for such hotel nestled in the Highlands. There’s very little ‘Scottishness’ about it, which I love. (You will find a wee Nessie ornament in the reception area but that’s about it!)
The AC Marriott Hotel caters to the sophisticated traveller and offers a comfortable stay in a very contemporary hotel blending modern design with warm hospitality.
Guest rooms are meticulously furnished, featuring sleek and stylish decor, plush bedding, and state-of-the-art amenities. The decor is very muted but creates a sense of calm with varying tones of beige and brown used to accent features. The lights provide a soft warm glow that invites coorie time.
The bed was heavenly with its perfectly placed pillows and crisp white sheets promising a night of unparalleled comfort. It delivered!
My guest room had an incredible view of the River Ness through large floor to ceiling extremely sound proofed windows.
On entering my guest room, I was immediately struck by the immaculate cleanliness that enveloped the space. Every surface sparkled with a pristine shine, reflecting the care and attention to detail. It was evident that no speck of dust had dared to settle anywhere within the confines of this room. In fact, the entire hotel was like this - pristine!
The rooms come with coffee machine, ironing board and iron, toiletries and Smart TV.
The breakfast at the AC Marriott Hotel is a delightful way to start the day. The dining area, bar, lounge, reception area all flow into one yet seem to retain their own sense of purpose.
The buffet offers a selection of freshly baked pastries, breads, and croissants that are buttery and flaky. For those seeking a heartier meal, there is a hot food station where you can enjoy traditional Scottish breakfast items such as haggis, black pudding, and grilled tomatoes. The continental section features an assortment of cured meats, cheeses, and fruits, perfect for those who prefer a lighter start to their morning.
Staff are attentive and happy to cater to any breakfast needs.
With its convenient location for exploring the city and the Highlands, gorgeous guest rooms and wonderful staff, the AC Marriott Inverness is most definitely my choice of hotel and I highly recommend it! I hope to return soon.

Read moreI felt like this was a very good pick with where I was at in my nearly 3 week solo trip around Scotland. It was a comfortable and clean chain hotel where I feel like you really know what you're going to get. The amenities are more "Americanized"- which as much as I loved the Scottish hotels... I just really wanted a washcloth and they provided lol (if you don't know this, washcloths are not a thing in Scotland). I spent a lot of time away from the hotel on the couple of nights I was here, but felt this was very comfortable. ||Some honest criticisms- There was a large stain on the chair in my room. While I felt everything was neat and clean, they should have replaced the chair or done some proper steam cleaning (like.. did someone wet their pants on it? That's what it looked like lol). ||I also wasn't a huge fan of the restaurant. It was very expensive and felt like it was a foreigner trying to do Scottish food.. but make it fancy.. and randomly throw in some Spanish flair or something? I don't know- it was confusing and there wasn't much that appealed to me. The first night I got some kind of chicken wrapped around haggis- it wasn't bad. Then I ordered the cranachan and it was so poorly done. I had cranachan at another traditional Scottish restaurant and it was one of the best things I ate on the trip- lovely, light, with fresh raspberries and delicate crunchy oats. This version was laden with artificial bright red syrup, thickly layered so it overpowered, and basically raw oats on top. For someone that has a sweet tooth, I couldn't even finish it. The next evening I had a steak, ordered medium rare, and it came out just raw and like it was clearly cooked while too cold so the outside was done but the middle was nearly cold. They kindly remade it and while it was cooked much better, it tasted like blood. I will say the waitstaff was fantastic, the manager came over and comped my meal- absolutely no complaints there- but just being honest that the restaurant food wasn't great. ||I would definitely stay here again, however- maybe just grab...
