I would earnestly recommend all and sundry, whom attend this useless, good for nothing monument, to park their vehicles 100 - 200 m distant behind the UHI Executive Buildings, FREE PARKING IS AVAILABLE, within 100 - 200m thereof.
Notably evenings and weekends at RIVERSIDE GARDENS apartment blocks where one should see parking bays marked V.isitor, or evenings & weekends only within the UHI Executive Parking Bays. Notably at the rear of the building as very occasionally, the staff overstay. This adjacent the river (NESS) by the central (one in the middle of three, Iron Suspension, pedestrian footbridges, mid-way between the Palace & Columba Hotels and /or Ness Bridge and Ness Islands and /or Archives and /or Bught Park. Especially on busy days, thereby saving a small fortune not parking in the all to oft overcrowded, extortionate L.ocal G.overnment A.uthority Highlands & Islands Car Park or Eden Court Theatre or the LGA building at the rear of the H&I Offices on Glen Urquahart Road.
In the most unlikely event this is not possible, then park at the rear of the adjacent Tennis Courts, within BISHOPS PARK where same avails itself. If necessary drive under and through the apartment blocks where same avails
Should you shop on the High Street, Eastgate Shopping Mall, use the Columba Hotel or Palace Hotel, visit, Eden Court, Theatre, Bught Park, The Aquadome, Ness Bank Church, all are within a couple of hundred meters of Bishops Park & notably Riverside Gardens at the rear of the UHI Executive Offices, where FREE PARKING AVAILS.
All notably outwith mid April through Mid September at the height of the tourist season. Otherwise, all to oft you should find vacant parking bays as & when you should all to oft find, no tourists are present within the said, Holiday (Apartment) Lets.
One final point, this FAO those whom choose to drink, might I also suggest you park your cars there, walk the short distance to town and collect as such, the next morning? This in the interests of Health &...
Read moreWe went for a visit to the Cathedral last Thursday 24th May, while on a holiday in Inverness. We have visited before & absolutely love the Cathedral. We have always been greeted as we went in, but not this time! No greeting, no smile! On every visit, we left a donation, but last week the lady on the desk at the door announced we had to give £2 each to enter. This was always voluntary & we always gave much more. As I was getting my purse out, this lady made me feel like I wasn't doing it fast enough & kept gesturing where I should be putting my money and tapping the bowl ! How very rude!! The people who came in behind us weren't Scottish & this lady was the same with them. I don't know what they must have thought. I was embarrassed by her behaviour. After everyone was in, this lady went back on to listen/ watch something on her ipod!! I was far from impressed. There used to be a lovely man on the desk. We very much wish he...
Read moreOne of the great modern cathedrals of Scotland, modern meaning the Victorian age as opposed to mediaeval times. There is a stately earnest grandeur to this building that I highly admire. It arises from the grey sullen banks of the river Ness, with graceful towers and stained glass windows. It deliberately imitates the devotion and wonder of the old mediaeval cathedrals, as the gothic revival style so popular in the Victorian age tended to do, and the ambition is appreciated, even if it lacks the vibrant restless creativity of design that marks many of those great mediaeval cathedrals. In these wild lands of the distant north, this cathedral stands for the presence of order and continuity. It is a lovely building, constructed with genuine care, and its grounds exude such vibrant greenery, particularly in...
