Lovely and quiet hotel. Family room is big with lots of space. The beds were very comfortable with high quality bedding. Tea and coffee facilities were good and my son really enjoyed the hot chocolate provided. Staff were super kind and welcoming. They provided lots of info regarding parking and things to do in the West End. The owners should be proud of their professionalism. ||The down sides were the trek up and down very narrow stairs that go on forever. Which is something to bear in mind if you struggle to walk up stairs. Their is no lift as it's an old building so no room for one.||The parking which isn't the hotels fault just a fact of life (we parked up outside our daughters accommodation a mile away and walked/got the subway everywhere).||The shower and hot water tap don't get very warm in room 8 and it takes a while to get any heat.||The landing light outside our door kept switching itself on/off during the night which we could see through the gaps in the door.||The TV didn't work. We tried everything but the remote isn't the original one to that TV model. My husband tried to pair it by looking codes up on Google but wasn't successful. Obviously we weren't there to watch the telly but was a bit disappointing not to be able to while settling down for the night with a brew. However we didn't speak to the staff about this so no idea if this is a common issue with an easy fix so that's on us.||All in all we enjoyed our stay and will definitely return in the future as our daughter attends the university and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe received a very warm welcome on arrival, and at breakfast the following morning. The hotel was perfectly situated in the West End of Glasgow, and only a 10 minute walk from the university open day that we were attending with our daughter. It was within walking distance of a good selection of restaurants for our meal on the evening of our arrival. It was great to be able to park the car for free from arrival on Friday until our leaving late in the day on the Saturday. I loved the view of the wooded area/river across from the hotel. I always travel with ear plugs so can't comment on any outdoor noise aspects. However, in the morning, we were aware of the noise of water from flushing toilets/showers in other rooms. This is not a complaint, but an observation for those who may sleep light. There was plenty of storage and clothes hangers. The room was clean, warm, and beds comfortable, with great blackout curtains and blinds. The bathroom was also warm with big fluffy towels. Although the sink, toilet, and shower were clean, my daughter noticed some crumbs and fluff on the bathroom floor on our arrival, indicating that this had not be cleaned well. Also the seal outside the shower/skirting was full of dust, and when I opened the drawer under the sink, noticed the same (hence the loss of a star). We enjoyed a lovely breakfast the following morning, and we would definitely like to stay again if we return...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy stay in Room 16 (budget double room) was very clean, modern and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and I slept very well here - it was very quiet. I appreciated having both blinds and curtains to block out the light. The room was equiped with a hairdryer, fan, small kettle, television and plenty of sockets with USB outlets. The staff were kind enough to let me borrow and iron and ironing board to iron my shirts. There was also a supply of tea, coffee and hot chocolate with a biscoff biscuit. Being on the third floor, the water took a very long time to get warm but that was not a big deal. I noticed a pinched wire on the right hand side bed lamp- please fix this!
The WiFi is very fast and free to use.
The hotel is very nice, the staff were very hospitable and it is within walking distance from Kelvinbridge Subway station and Kelvingrove park.
The buffet style breakfast was nice and very convenient having it just downstairs, but I feel like it could be vastly improved using ingredients of a slightly higher quality, especially for £10pp. In particular the sausages were kind of disappointing and the pastries were (on some mornings) kind of hard.
I would very happily stay here again if I find myself...
