Hello Everyone, Here is my personal opinion regarding this very restaurant.
As you might know, while personalized medicine is making its first wobbly steps, personalized authentic Indian cuisine is already here at Mother India. Despite not being a gastronomic guru, my induction to the tastes of India went wonderful.
Assuming that the Indian food is inherently spicy and contains a variety of different herbs(spices), which could easily be modified just talk to the chef and adjust the ingredients according to your taste. This means almost every entity in the menu might be personally adapted.
Special note should be made regarding the interior, which is bright, clean and has plenty of space that could not have come at a better time considering the current epidemiologic state. On top of that, polite and welcoming personnel will enhance your positive life experience with the distinctive cuisine of the country to which, from my perspective, Britain is indebted for its current social and economic prosperity.
To make a long story short, craving for delicious food in a tranquil environment - reserve a table. Speaking statistically, the probability of you being satisfied is extremely high.
P.s. my apologies for the lack of digital content as my hands were too occupied by utilizing table-wares). Be assured the images will follow after my second visit that undoubtedly will...
Read moreI'll start with the pros. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately I can't agree with the 4.5 rating.
The food was very subpar. It's the only Indian restaurant I've been to where I didn't finish my plate. There were nuts poured all over the top of my dish, which overwhelmed the curry at most points. The chicken in my dish tasted very charred at times. My husbands lamb was very hit-or-miss, with some parts being fine and some being very tough. The naan was okay, but it was a little unweildy to eat. The masala fries were also okay but there were some with a lot of seasoning and some with very little. What really makes the food a 1 star for me is serving the most mediocre curry I've had while simultaneously being the most expensive Indian restaurant I've been to in Scotland. £4 for 330ml of fizzy juice? While the waiter was friendly, we asked for the cheque and we didnt receive one until we flagged him down 10 minutes later. There were only 4 other tables being served at the time.
There are far better choices nearby, with lower pricing on top of that. I hate to leave bad reviews but I seriously cannot agree with Mother India being named as "the best in...
Read moreWe had high hopes for The Lansdowne but, unfortunately, felt very quickly let down. The poppadoms were fresh and bubbly, however, the mango chutney was obviously not homemade and the spiced onions were sadly mediocre. The starter of vegetable pakora was hot but there is nothing else positive to say about it or the accompanying dip. The nan with main was popped nicely to a perfect bubble which, while aesthetically pleasing, was sadly dry and tasteless. A far cry from the sumptuous butteriness of a perfectly cooked nan that we all know is one of the huge indulgences of Indian cuisine at its best. The chicken mains were appalling. Tapas is one thing but 3 poorly cooked chunks of chicken in a condensed soup-type sauce is another. There was no familiar aroma of the synergy of Indian spices, but rather a congealed offering. The staff were friendly and understanding but obviously still finding their feet. They will need to find their feet quickly if the food doesn’t improve in quality as they will be in the firing line for a lot of confused customers who, like us, expected the standard of the Mother India experience, but were left with quite a different...
