Visiting Peasano Pizza in Glasgow's West End is like stepping through a gateway to Naples. This charming pizzeria delivers an authentic Neapolitan pizza experience that will make any pizza aficionado's heart sing.
Upon entering Peasano, the warm and inviting atmosphere immediately envelops you. The restaurant's layout, with its open seating and vibrant Italian decor, offers a perfect balance between a rustic Napoli osteria and a modern Scottish eatery. The open kitchen design lets you observe the magical artistry of pizza-making unfold, with the skilled pizzaiolos spinning dough and firing pizzas in a traditional wood-burning ovens.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the pizza. The menu is a medley of classic Neapolitan favourites, each prepared with an unwavering commitment to authenticity. The crust is the perfect harmony of chewy and charred, a testament to the meticulous fermentation process they must adopt. The toppings are top-notch, with quality, fresh ingredients that would make any Nonna proud.
I savoured every bite of the Margherita pizza, a true litmus test for any pizzeria. The sauce, was rich and flavourful, pairing beautifully with the creamy, melt-in-your-mouth baffalo mozzarella. The basil added a delightful aroma that perfectly punctuated the pizza's authentic profile. Every element of this pizza came together in a symphony of Neapolitan perfection.
The restaurant offers good Italian beer- Schooners of Menabrae- and wines, rounding out the pizza experience perfectly. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, adding a layer of charm to the overall dining experience.
The only thing keeping Peasano Pizza from a five-star rating is the wait time during peak hours. The popularity of the restaurant can lead to a bit of a wait for a table, and pizzas can sometimes take a while to arrive. However, the quality of the food makes it worth the patience.
In conclusion, Peasano Pizza is a gem in the heart of Glasgow's West End. It's an unmissable spot for any pizza lovers, delivering a slice of Naples right to your table with each pizza they serve. If you're in the area, don't miss out on this delicious culinary journey to Italy - Peasano Pizza will not...
Read moreWe visited on Saturday 2nd April 2022 for the first time and would certainly return again.
We did not have booking; it doesn't appear that the place takes bookings. Despite it opening midday (we arrived at 12:20), the place was quite full of people, so definitely worth to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
The staff were kind, polite and seemed to be happy working there. The place didn't seem understaffed which is a rarity. And the open plan seating didn't seem as intrusive as in other places although it was quite noisy. The toilets were clean and in order.
We had two different pizzas (numbers 4 (spicy) and 5) and drinks. The taste was very good, but the cutlery (mainly knifes) could be sharper, we had to wrestle quite a bit. Both cappuccino and beer were great and even the tap water tasted better than other places (or, indeed, at home).
Size of the pizza was too much for me, I wish there would have been a warning or sizing provided. I think a starter and pizza to share might be enough for me personally and cheaper as well. I couldn't finish my pizza.
I've seen a lot of people take the pizzas for takeaway during summer to share and am pretty sure I will be one of these people next summer.
I do have to note though that many people talk about how cheap the pizzas are and I am not quite in agreement. It's good quality food but I wouldn't say it is cheap. Our total including tip...

In fact I would say that in my opinion this is probably my favourite Glasgow pizza place.
They make traditional sour dough thin pizzas of the same sort that one gets in places like franco-manca rather than the American type of deep pan pizza... My partner usually prefers deep pan but I love these. The dough is superbly tasty on its own, and they marry that with their own unique range of toppings.
There are plenty of vegetarian and meat options to choose from.
I would also recommend saving a corner for their pie and soft ice cream which finishes the meal nicely.
The service is swift and friendly but at peak times there may be a short wait for a table.
There isn't really any parking at the restaurant, but we parked down by the museum and walked up here. Looking at the side streets I think you probably should be able to find a spot though.
The restaurant does have some entrance steps so it may be worth checking on access arrangements if you are disabled. Neither of us are so I fear I can't comment on...
