Beck Allans Guest House — Hotel in Great Britain

We loved everything about this place! Jenny and Jim were kind and welcoming, from helping us find the laundry room to suggesting trails to walk. The location was conveniently in the center of town, but the gated off area made it feel more private and peaceful. We enjoyed the babbling brook outside our window. The room itself was lovely and comfortable (I believe one of the smaller rooms at Beck Allan’s, but it had everything we needed and a great shower). The breakfast was a major highlight; I got the continental optional each time (croissant, brioche roll, yogurt, berries, seeds and nuts, etc), which was delicious and plenty of food. My partner particularly enjoyed the scrambled eggs with chorizo. It’s worth mentioning that breakfast is between 8:30 and 9 (you choose a time in that window), which might not work perfectly for everyone’s schedules, though it was ideal for us.

We were really glad to have chosen Grasmere to stay in between two jaunts in London; it was less big/crowded than Ambleside or Keswick and had lots of amazing places to eat. Overall, this was incredibly relaxing in beautiful environs. If we get a chance to come back, we will definitely stay at Beck...

Wow. Where do I start? Unfortunately there's no option for ten stars. On arrival Jim and Jenny were there to greet us, giving us a warm welcome, showing us to our room settling us in offering recommendations of places to eat and drink in the local area. The beautiful aroma of home bakes coming from the kitchen smelled absolutely divine. We chose our breakfast options and headed out for food and beer. Breakfast was absolutely lovely. Great selection to choose from, the cooked full English was piping hot and the jams and sauces were delicious; all locally sourced, I can recommend the sausages. The house was immaculate, decor was fresh and modern, bed was comfy and the room had all the amenities you needed. What can I say? Beck Allans is a very competitively priced guest house in a stunning location next to the river Rothay, overlooking the fells (Helm Crag). Although we had an action packed weekend planned, we didn't feel like we used the guest house to its full potential. We'll have to come back. A lovely added touch of Jenny's boxed chocolate cake for the journey home was a lovely extra touch. See you soon....

Completely Wonderful! Cannot speak more highly of this wonderful guest house Beck Allens at Grasmere. The first thing that strikes you when you meet Chris and Ian is the warm, friendly interaction with every guest. They have that rare quality to make you feel very special and so well looked after in an individual way. Chris and Ian really do want you to have a great stay and do everything to ensure this is the case. The whole place is IMMACULATE and the room we stayed in not a speck anywhere. The bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in (including my own - will rethink our mattress!); the shower warm and powerful and the breakfast… well, I must honestly say it was the best b/fast we have had at any guest house ever! Fresh fruit salad, Greek yoghurt, seeds, nuts, every kind of hot breakfast - of course the full monty with every ingredient cooked to perfection. Freshly brewed coffee, beans ground by Chris and Ian. I haven’t even mentioned the location which is beside a babbling stream/river with friendly ducks who pop up for a chat whilst you are sitting peacefully… Very highly...
