This was our second time staying at The Bridge, chosen especially for our 43rd Wedding Anniversary and because of a previous, excellent stay here, last July. We enjoyed yet another comfy stay here, greeted once again with a smile and cheer, this time by Rhian. We were surprised to learn our room had been upgraded at no extra cost to help celebrate our special stay, treated also by a lovely card and small box of hand made chocolates - so felt thoroughly spoilt. Our room was perfect in size, storage, well stocked bathroom and a comfy bed (!); the room complemented by the Tea / Coffee / Biscuits, as well as the lovely river outlook - so relaxing to hear.
From booking in and sadly going home, ALL the staff were warm, welcoming and friendly. So on this visit, our big shout outs go to Rhian, Sarah and 'Bish' their new Chef, along with all back ground personnel too. A True Credit to the Management. Nothing was too much trouble, always ready to help and of course Bish cooking up really tasty and well presented Breakfasts. The speciality of The Bridge is, not only the small & cosy but you are treat to their complementary Scones and Teas / Coffees in the afternoon - a great relaxer after long walks! (Their scones being freshly baked and homemade!).
Yet again, we arrived as Customers and as we always regrettably returned home, we remain as friends. Shall certainly return.
It speaks volumes when you return to Hotels and see the same Staff, I think this projects a happy group and a good working environment - hard to secure for the hospitality trade these days; Staff can be subjected to working difficult circumstances, trying to please all, with differing expectations and taste etc, but the staff here cope with this in a professional and caring manner. So...
Read moreThis is a small intimate hotel where the staff get to know you. They are all very professional, friendly and helpful, they are attentive not intrusive. They advise you of your room number before hand and this is also your allocated parking space. Our room was on ground floor room 105 right on the river. The room is spacious well laid out, comfortable, clean, and has everything essential for a good stay. The bed was comfy and very good size. The hotel offers scones and cream, or pastries and hot drinks in the afternoon included in the price and they were very fresh and delicious. The hotel is next to village shops and 5 minute walk to the famous grasmere gingerbread shop , which is well worth the average 20 minute wait. There is a sister hotel which is approximately 300 yards away , and you have use of the swimming pool and sauna. This is also where dinner is served and it is a nice walk there and back and worth the effort for the delicious food. I am vegetarian and Although the menu is limited the staff are so helpful and accommodating I would advise just talking to them . I would like to mention Ben the chef at the bridge who helped with my vegetarian breakfast and it was delicious and also the standard of the chefs at the sister hotel the inn. I would highly recommend this intimate hotel, and service and especially all of the staff thank you for a...
