We arrived on Monday 28th October for a 2 night stay as out motorhome was in for work at 3a's. I had booked a family room for my girls, husband and myself. Check in wasnt until 2pm but we had arrived early as we had dropped the motorhome off at 8:30. The lady working was very matter of fact and less than helpful and informed us 2pm was the ealiest for room access. At 2pm we asked for our keys, yes we had to ask, and was shown to our room. The room wasn't great, see photos they speak for themselves and it generally felt grubby. The shower flooded the bathroom when being used as the glass door had been replaced by a curtain that didnt really fit and judging by the "bath" had been like this for sometime as theres a 3 inch tide line in the wood. The accommodation needs tlc to say the least and the staffs attitudes are down to being understaffed and rushed (1 member of staff doing everything, bar, serving food and taking orders) even being told that the owner doesn't care by one members of staff, which in retrospect is reflected in the overall presentation of the building.

Visited Carmarthen for my daughters graduation and stayed 2 nights at the Boars Head. 1st impressions were great. Quick & easy check in, friendly staff who were smartly dressed and very approachable. Our room (no 10) was lovely, very clean, comfortable beds, nice big windows which let in lots of natural light. Bathroom was full sized shower and toilet which again, was cleaned to a very high standard. Breakfast was included in the price and was lovely. I had a full cooked breakfast both mornings and everything was cooked perfectly. Really set me up for the day. Again, the waitresses were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast room was cute, tables were set up professionally, with your room number on the table so it was easy to seat everyone. Visited the bar on our last night and had a few drinks, prices were reasonable and the bar lady was really friendly. All in all, the Boars Head is a great little place to stay. Would definitely stay again

Excellent place to stay.Free parking to the rear of the hotel. Full of history and character. Check in was friendly and quick. We were even shown to our room. The little things like being shown to your room mean a lot in my opinion. The staff are extremely professional and smartly dressed. I love that. Our room was spotless, comfortable, warm and very quiet. We stayed for 2 nights bed and breakfast over the May Bank holiday. Breakfast was also excellent. We had a full English vegetarian breakfast. It was delicious. There was fresh coffee, Welsh tea, fresh juices, cereal and yoghurt also on offer. The hotel is in a wonderful location, central to everything. We spent some time in the bar area on our last evening. The bar maid was lovely and smartly dressed. The drinks are very reasonable. I highly recommend this lovely hotel. I would definitely stay again. We had room 16. It was spacious and had a spacious bathroom too. Such a beautiful hotel.

I very rarely leave a review but I felt on this occasion it was important to do so. |This booking initially started well with the manager offering to let us use the function room to change from our wedding attire and we are very grateful for this- which is why im rating much higher on my review however the experience itself wasnt as expected. ||Upon booking I stated the time of arrival and stated we were staying for our wedding the next morning so the staff knew we were coming. Upon arrival, after travelling for 5 hours- we were stood in the doorway to check in, bags and wedding attire in hand walking round the hotel for almost 25 mins. I eventually had to CALL the hotel and after 5 mins of the phone ringing finally spoke to a lady who said "come to the bar". We stood there for anther 10 mins until she walked in clearly stressed, wedding attire in hands and had literally the most beige customer service Ive ever experienced. Clearly this woman was on her own- despite the fact she knew we were stood there- continued to serve the bar customers and then practically threw the key at us- no congrats, no warm welcome, absolutely ZERO customer service. The room was clean but tired- everything peeling away needing a refresh, handles fallen off drawers and wardrobe, distinct lack of plug sockets which had us climbing under the bed to reach them. a few other members of our party had no sleep due to other guests and noone on site to manage this. We asked for an iron in the morning which to be fair was promptly brought to our room however the ironing board was old and dirty and the iron has burn marks- not the kind of iron or board you want to be ironing your wedding attire with thats for sure. Breakfast was bland, dry bacon sandwich on Hovis bread- again minimal customer service. This wasnt the cheapest hotel in the area for a Sunday night and we expected alot more from our stay. Fortunately this didnt ruin our wedding week but it certainly put a dampened start to the...

Called in for lunch at 1.45 to be surprised how quiet it was for a Bank holiday . Went to the bar to order drinks , was served by a young girl that wasn't very friendly and had to say a few times the drinks we wanted and for menus . Myself , my mum and partner sat at a table by the window that hadn't been cleared of cups and saucers . We just tidied them up and put to the side . My partner went to the bar to order 3 baguettes and a bowl of chips , he said the young girl again had difficulty putting food thru which he came back and said . We waited a long time before our food eventually came . To our astonishment only 2 out of the 3 baguettes ordered were correct . 1 was wrong my partner again said what we ordered and the same young girl had a face like thunder and said well someone must have ordered it .. she stormed back to the kitchen waited again and 3rd baguette arrived correct this time . This guy in all black with an English accent looked like from the kitchen ? Came to my partner and physically threw the plate in front of him ... we couldn't believe the lack of customer service . We then said where's our chips.. and with a very rude flippant attitude this man said don't know ? Didn't look at us and walked off . We then ate our food which was lovely so no complaints there . The chips arrived after we had finished our food .. when the older girl brought the chips I told her how unhappy we were and was totally gobsmacked. She said it was very busy short staffed , but it really wasn't ... being in the industry for many years I know what busy is and it 100% was not .. The girl was the only polite member of staff and did apologise. We couldn't wait to leave and honestly I'd never ever go back . So beware the food is nice but the customer service is...

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Filthy room the internal window frame fell out on top of me when I tried to open it.

The canopy outside my room over the entrance has never been cleaned it was filthy with cigarette butts. Was woken at 0530 hrs every morning with the collection of bottles from the hotel and them being emptied into the truck.

The bathroom vent was disgusting. The room had flimsy cheap curtains, was exceptionally hot and had no fans or AC but couldn't open the window due to noise.

The restaurant was a joke and had nothing on the menu, what they did have was definitely heated in a microwave and extortionate prices.

The hotel LOCKS the main door at night with no staff on-site other than a chef on the top floor who was intoxicated when seen.

The manager was the definition of useless and didn't care. Oh they say they have a sister boutique hotel up the road which they use if busy. DO NOT go there it's simply bedrooms over a bar and nightclub with rooms so small you have no lockers or wardrobe and it's location is not a safe one.

One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in anywhere in the world. It is an insult to the meaning of what a hotel is.

The entrance to the parking is so narrow any car wider than a small vehicle will not get in.

Save your money and stay in the Travel Lodge. The showers constantly overflow so are also unusable, as is the TV unless you're literally standing in front of it.

Faulty Towers has been renamed The Boars Head Hotel...
