To start, let me simply state how wonderful Phillip and Elizabeth were to me during my stay. I arrived naively to Ullapool in early March thinking I could easily get a room without booking because of the abundance of residences in the area and it being the off season. Little did I know, many of the bed and breakfasts do not even operate in the winter due to less tourism. After being rejected by over 10 other BnB's, I stumbled upon this one not too hopeful. They were not planning on having any guests while I was there so the heating for the guest rooms wasn't even on, but they went above and beyond to accommodate me with no notice. They welcomed me with open arms and made me feel right at home! A hot pot of tea, beautiful room, and freshly fired up sauna were all prepared for me immediately. Not only that, but they gave me many options the night before for breakfast so I could have exactly what I wanted in the morning. They provided friendly conversation whenever it was appropriate, and peace & quiet during the other times. I seriously could not recommended them enough and my only regret is not staying there longer, but my itinerary unfortunately did not allow that.
If you are planning a trip to the Highlands, Ullapool is a great base camp and bungalow500 will not disappoint! My only advice is to stay there long enough to truly appreciate what they have done here, and I promise you...
Read moreWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Phil & Elizabeth's lovely B&B. From the local restaurant tips emailed ahead of time (we recommend the Seaforth for great local seafood!), to the curated book selection, to the comfy beds and tasteful luxurious decor in the NC500 Family/Friends suite on upper floor (view of the water), to the fantastic breakfast (great selection with something for all tastes), to Phil's great travel tips for our family road tour of the Highlands - we would definitely return on our next visit to the quaint finishing village of Ullapool. Thanks Elizabeth & Phil for spoiling us with homemade cake & tea upon arrival. The breakfast choices of trout pate, pancakes with banana/bacon layers, and classic egg omelette (fresh eggs from their own chickens!) were incredibly delicious. Bathroom was exceptionally clean, high quality fixtures and helpful extra toiletries supplied for travelers. The hand-painted tea cups and comfy sitting room were impressive, as were their choice of beautiful antique wooden furniture. All in all, an upscale...
Read moreWe stayed at Bungalow500 during our trip to Scotland a couple weeks ago. I can say without a doubt that this was the best experience I have ever had! From the second we stepped out of the car, Phil and Elizabeth greated us with kindess! When we got up to our room (which was beautiful, clean, and had a great view) they brought tea, cake and scones. It was so delicious and I do believe homemade! Once we got settled, Phil offered to make us dinner reservations and really made us feel like we were at home. We were given several different breakfast options and times that we would like to eat. The next morning they brought it up to our rooms right on time and it was delicious! Ullapool was our favorite town that we stopped at during our trip and Bungalow500 was a huge part of that. This is an absolute must if you are staying in Ullapool and we wish we could have stayed longer to get to know Phil and Elizabeth! We will definitely be stopping here the next time we are passing through, and...
