We waited outside to be seated for nearly 10 minutes when the restaurant was very quiet and staff members were stood chatting to each other. When we were finally seated we were immediately pestered for our drinks and food order. No time was given to look over the menu. After ordering drinks we kept being asked if we were ready to order….After being asked at least five times within five minutes if we were ready to order we finally gave in as we felt that we had to order something quickly. As soon as we ordered we were immediately presented with the bill and were expected to pay even before our food had arrived. We were thinking of ordering more drinks and settling at the end of a relaxed meal but this was not meant to be. Overall we felt pestered and hounded to order quickly and pay even quicker. We weren’t the only ones. At one point we saw eight members of staff stood chatting whilst several customers were waiting outside to be seated. Aside from being made to feel completely unwelcome, the food was average at best and the prices were extortionate for the portion sizes we received. I would recommend using Davey’s fish and chips on the harbour front. Rubbish staff who provided rubbish service at an extortionate cost.. Watch out for the hidden service charge that you’re not told about until you have to pay.

We came to ullapool at the end of a Scottish holiday that included Glasgow Edinburgh and Aberdeen. This was the most expensive meal on our whole trip and really poor for value for money. £20 for very average fish and chips. By comparison, at the ashvale restaurant in Aberdeen we had the best fish and chips on our trip for less. £7 for a pint. By far the most drink and more expensive than even London £2 for a pint of soda. Everyone else we had a soda it was free £180 for 5 of us including drinks. We could have had much the same from the excellent chippy round the corner, and a pint at the local pub for half that price. In fact- the 5 of us had a much more enjoyable curry with drinks for £50 less in Hampstead, London, one of the priciest parts- so how do the owners get off charging more than London??? Nor were we paying extra for "atmosphere and ambience" because there wasn't any.. I'm from Ross-shire and really disappointed to have been so ripped off in my own county.

Stopped off after not visiting for about 20years,went from a lovely local bar/chippy restaurant ect to sadly a lifeless tourist trap, restaurant decor pretty poor lacking any character, apart from the lights made out of fishing boat wheels! Bad music chose plus volume was loud,Baught 2 fish and chips at £20 each which I think for what we got was disappointing, hardly any chips, and the ones we did get where the scraps that lie in the bottom of the fryer,2 draft cokes at £4.50 each again weren't the best. Only thing good about this place is the friendly staff, our waitress chloe was fab very attentive!! 5* to her! Was told the bill price with out looking so only noticed after walking out that there was a 10% service charge put on the bill.which I would of asked to be taken off due the fact the food was already very expensive and not great! Sadly will not be returning or recommending this restaurant.

This visit was not what I’ve had in the past . We hadn’t booked so were given stable outside . Nice evening and enclosed space . As we had dined her over the years ,visiting Ullapool . Was looking forward to having an enjoyable dinner. Sadly disappointing experience. We were not shown to the table just told that one 🤔 You could have stuck everything to the table . It was sticky, dirty and the smell of dog urine was overpowering. Not exactly hygienic for serving food ! Service was friendly and informed of soup , special and apologies for certain items not being available . Then it came to ordering … Felt like we were being pushed to have the mushy peas , even thought I replied politely and explained we didn’t want them several times. Little respect on the servers part should have been “not a problem “ instead they kept saying to have them ! No thanks , if I politely request no mushy peas , I do not want someone then telling me have them .

Lastly adding gratuity to your bill automatically is not acceptable. We live in Great Britain ,Scotland where minimum wage and living wage standards are good . A tip is for excellent or exceptional service and is at the bill payers discretion! Plus being at a dirty smelly table and feeling uncomfortable about not wanting mushy peas ,it was plain rude to automatically add a gratuity to a bill . Then made to feel uncomfortable about removing it . Cannot pay in cash which I prefer to do , no signs or indications that it’s card only !

Only plus was the good food itself . Which next time we will get from there take away part of the business as seafood served is the same as menu . Why 5 stars for food only . Disappointed as used to love our visits to this establishment...

Disappointing experience overall.

Stood waiting outside the restaurant to be seated for some time with nobody attending to us before walking into the restaurant assuming we were stood in the wrong place. The host then asked if I could read in a very rude manner as we were not waiting by the sign saying wait to be seated.

I explained that we had not booked but would be very quick to which the host then said 'lots of people say that lady'. He was so blunt that it took me aback!

To his credit, he did then seat us on a table sharing with another lady. This was then undermined somewhat when I overheard him tell a server that some other tables were being saved for 2s and 4s, so I was very confused as to why we had to share?

A lovely young lady took our order and brought the food in 10 minutes or less which was great. However, it was quite costly at £15 for Mac n Cheese and the quality was far from deserving of the price. I was presented with lurid yellow coloured, barely melted mac and cheese that once I took a spoonful out of, it became evident the sauce had split into milk and bright orange globules of cheese.

The burger we ordered, at a price of £18 was substandard. Little lavour, and when requested for it to come without salad, it came with salad. So overall quality of the food was poor.

To top it off, we were then questioned when we wanted to remove the service charge from the bill. Even when given a reason, the waitress continued to ask for more feedback, when we made it clear we did not have the time nor patience for such things.

My advice for eating in Ullapool, book far in advance, and do so at any establishment other...

Was here last year, and we drove 50 miles each way to come again for good reason, so 4 of us in for lunch today.

When we arrived all the tables were taken or reserved, so we were 1st on the waiting list and cosied up at the bar for about a 15 minute wait.

Between us 4 main courses, a Seaforth burger, venison burger, fish and chips and a roast salmon. I had the Seaforth, was really good. Crispy onion rings and chips, the chips real fluffy in the middle, juicy patty and a magic bbq dip, same for the venison one according to Shep. Dad had the battered haddock. Good batter, succulent and fresh haddock with a great flavour. My sister had the salmon with spinach and mash, I never tasted that, but she was well happy.

A nice ambience today, a load of tables held for a tour. We ordered just ahead of their arrival so we had no delay, the musician on the accordion belting out a few reels.

A wee delay on coffees during the tour clear up, and a cold one so in fairness they were comped before we brought it up.

This place is a sure fire guarantee for a good meal, attentive and professional service, it's clean, and we were well looked after by a lovely New Zealander. My only negative would be that I felt it a little over priced. £100 for 4 mains, 1 side including 10% service. However, I also understand, prime location and far NW 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 drives pricing.

I'll see ya next year, thank you for a lovely meal. 😍 (my auld fella just had part 2 of his fish & chips for his tea. Nice one for the...
