We checked in on 15/11/21 to Cecil Court Hotel, upon arrival the owner or manager (? I presume) was extremely friendly and helpful. He made sure we knew everything we needed to know, let us know where our room was. Covid precautions were also still being taken seriously as seen by the manage wearing a mask upon arrival, sanitising keys in front of me before handing them over, encouraging guests to sanitise hands where possible and where masks when in communal areas (as requested by various signs around the hotel) Others have complained about car parking, upon arrival the car park was nearly empty and we had no issue parking outside the door to drop our bags off’ Upon entering our room we were very pleased with the size, lovely and spacious. We were left complimentary teas and coffee as well as a couple of biscuits and chocolates which was a nice touch. The room is lovely and clean with what seems like very new carpets. Huge flat screen TV, massive sliding door wardrobe with mirror. The room was utterly spotless and beautifully clean.
There is a school just down the road and it’s a busy road, we were in a top floor room and could not hear anything, only when we had the windows wide open. While the WIFI does occasionally cut out, and is only advertised as a basic free wifi service, we found it to be more than perfect for needs.
The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the triangle and about 10 minutes to the beach, so perfectly situated
There were a few minor cosmetic scratches on the bathroom door, and a couple of screw holes in the wall in the bathroom which weren’t fully filled in - but that’s just if we’re being picky.
Overall we had an extremely pleasant stay.
(Note: pictures are from check out - room was clean, bed made and towels on rail...
Read moreLooking at prior reviews, we stayed in room 10. With personally I’m not a character for all bad reviews, this hotel does have positive points also. However, if you are wanting a room with bed bugs, and a centipede found on the floor then this hotel isn’t for you.
To be told “there’s nothing we can do about it” when we have a 3 year old child with us, is unsatisfactory service and does not show any form of customer service. The lady confirmed it to “probably be mosquitoes” I’m sorry, but how can mosquitos firstly get into the room when we didn’t have any windows open once?
The cleaning staff , and hotel staff are friendly. However the bedroom is unsatisfactory and not suitable for small children seeing we were all bitten and unwell with a flu when arriving home due to no heating & a freezing cold room.
The bar opens exactly at 1PM, which I feel is rather late for guests which may need a glass of water or even a drink earlier during the day. All we are left with is an emergency number and the hotel staff can’t wait to leave the building. Poor service, and poor facilities.
This review will aim to help improve your services and also future guests to make a correct decision based on the experiences received. The pictures are clear and visible, so therefore is an honest based review with clear evidence based on the hotel experience. Please improve your services, and this will be taken directly to the papers.
The itching bites, are clearly seen in the proof of images attached to this review. Shame as it is a lovely hotel, which could easily be perfect if small amendments were...
Read moreThis place needs a lot of work on many different levels...the most prominent issue being what I assume were bed bugs. I came away after a two night stay covered head to toe in very painful and itchy bites. This place needs to be fumigated ASAP.
On the subject of beds, I'm not sure what material the duvet was made from, but it was totally unbreathable so you have a choice of either sweating profusely under the sheets or being freezing cold without them.
Speaking of cold, the shower temperature was relatively unreliable so expect the hot water to randomly cut out halfway through your wash. Unacceptable in a hotel really.
Also the walls were paper thin so not only can you hear everything from outside on the street, but also from fellow guests in the rooms next door.
Finally, the guy who greeted us when we arrived seemed to hate us on the spot. Seemed totally fed up of welcoming guests to the hotel. Also referred to the cleaning staff as "the girls", which was pretty icky. Made for a pretty awkward and uncomfortable start to our stay.
Otherwise this place would be alright if they just sorted out all of the above. It's a budget hotel so nothing fancy, but really they should be charging significantly less owing to all these problems. Big avoid if you can - there's plenty of other hotels on the same road, just wished we had stayed at one of them instead. Hopefully this place will change in the near future as it was otherwise alright, besides all the aforementioned issues.
PS: in response to their below message, of course they'd say my review is false - please read their message...
