Visited for breakfast and ordered their biggest English on the menu with 3 sausages which turned up overcooked, black, burnt and charred on the outside. It looked like they'd been sitting in an oven keeping warm for hours. Could've complained at the time and returned them but didn't as you never know what you'll get back after a complaint. Besides they should know better than to serve food that doesn't meet a reasonably good standard instead of trying to save money, and need to learn from errors. Tea came in a 2 mug pot with 1 tea bag, was left to brew for ages but was still very weak and like water. Wouldn't return.
UPDATE. Owners have replied claiming that this is a fake review. 😳 No.... this an honest review and after 3 years of leaving my review you cannot apologise but only claim that it's fake. Take a look at some of the photos from other reviews. Burnt sausage, burnt hash brown, and a little smear of plastic spread on burnt toast. My reviews, and I have reviewed a few places in Bournemouth, are all honest and some have been very good. I have no reason to leave a bad review unless it was bad, and yes it was bad. Maybe I'll visit again soon and see if your breakfast is any better. You might get another...
Read moreI had high expectations after reading multiple positive reviews, so I was disappointed not to be able to give 5 stars. The gluten free menu only works if you don't have other intolerances and like halloumi and spinach. I ended up building my own breakfast. 2 rashers of bacon 1 poached egg 2 halves of tomato 1 portion baked beans (looked like 1/2 portion) 1 slice gluten-free bread (toasted) How much do you think that ought to cost? Now, I know I'm a Yorkshire lass and this cafe is in Bournemouth, but £8.50... that's a bit steep and worthy of an "'Ow much?" Everything about the Olive Cafe is distinctly average. For me personally, charging prices like £8.50 for a barely there breakfast is a bit cheeky. Either improve the quality and portion size or reduce the...
Read moreJust had a superb breakfast at this cafe. It is always packed with customers when I drive past and we've been meaning to visit here for quite a while. As soon as I entered the staff gave me lovely welcoming smiles, almost every table was full as usual with happy diners. My husband and I ordered Eggs Royal and Americano coffee. The service was super fast, the coffee was scalding hot and tasted excellent. Every bite was perfect from the muffins to the smoked salmon to the poached eggs which were cooked to perfection which is not an easy thing to do, the yolk ran out exactly as it should while the whites were firm and wobbly! All this was smothered with a delicious cheesy hollandaise/mayonnaise type dressing. Thoroughly recommend and reasonably...
