Firstly, I will say that the hotels location is good. It is local to the beach and the bus stops are close by should you wish to venture. I visited this hotel with family so we had 4 rooms in total. I had a family room as we had 2 children with us. Upon arrival, we were handed our keys and headed up to our room ... The room was extremely dated and in much need of a good scrub and a face-lift. Our wardrobe in the main room had huge holes in it as did certain areas of the walls. The 2nd bedroom had 1 single bed and a wardrobe. There wasn't a single light in there or a plug socket. This wasn't great as my children are young and like to sleep with a night light. There was a wall lamp next to the bed but it had no light bulb inside so was redundant. The rooms are very dark and old fashioned and just need a freshen up. The bathroom wasn't bad, we had a shower but it was either freezing cold water or far to hot to get inside .... again, having 2 young children, this caused problems. The waiter who served us at meal times was very polite, the food however, was average at best. It wasn't a very relaxing experience in the dining room as staff members were rushing around like headless chickens. One staff member in particular dropped all of his breakfast plates directly next to my husband and spilling leftover food everywhere .. he stood there, rolled his eyes and said "well its not my table so I'm not bothered". His attitude was extremley poor as was his general hygiene. He was sweating and rubbing his face with the tea towels which was then being used to pick customers plates up and handed to them. The general hygiene issues were something that had been reported to the reception staff on 2 seperate occasions and neither time was this acted on. The hotel entertainment was ok for the older audience, with bingo played daily along with a general knowledge quiz. The prices for drinks at the bar were also reasonable but on our last night, after getting to the bottom of my drink I found a fingernail at the bottom of my glass!! This just topped it for me. We were not expecting a 5* hotel by any means and I would never normally leave a negative review, but after the hotel receiving 2 complaints off additional parties whilst we were there that weren't taken seriously and an email sent to head office after, that hasnt been acted on, I feel its only right to provide feedback.

Good value hotel, short walk from Cliffe tops. You can either walk down the zig zag path or the roads to get to the beach , can be a long pull back up to the top though. There is a cliff lift close by but only operated until about 4, in September. The hotel is clean and public rooms well maintained. There is a large furnished sun terrace outside the bar/entertainment area, a small games room, coffee shop and two quieter lounges. Restaurant is down stairs there is a small lift, food was good and well presented but like everyone in the hospitality industry they are struggling to get staff so service can be slow, this frustrated a few guests, but you are on holiday so go with the flow. We found our bedroom comfortable with adequate storage. A very small TV, tea and coffee making. The bathroom was modern with a walk in shower, but like all holiday hotels, the bedroom could do with a little tlc in the decorating. Would go back again, found all the staff to be friendly and helpful and very hard working.

As this was a surprise break for my partners birthday I did not get off to the best start the lounge and bar area were clean and tidy as was the dining area where the staff were great it's a pity that the management weren't as good The room let's just say resembled a store room for broken furniture and fittings they did sort another room after we complained to their head office there was so much wrong with this room the list was endless see photos attached hope things improve

I’ll start off by saying the location was fantastic. The hotel was bearable but needed modernising and a detailed clean.

The food wasn’t edible, I don’t expect 5* hotel food but what I do expect is something that hasn’t come out of a carton. We had to send multiple meals back. We ordered salads as we thought you couldn’t go wrong, big mistake. The tuna wasn’t tuna, the chicken was like sandpaper and the salad was indescribable.

When we came down for our meals we was sat central of the dining room, which meant we could see the kitchen area. The staff was great apart from a few… Chris and the man with the blue hair was quite frankly disgusting. They was eating in the kitchen whilst serving food, not washing their hands and then handling everyone’s plates! The man with the blue hair was sweating profusely and proceeding to wipe it on a tea towel which he was then using that to hand peoples plates out. What is cross contamination to them? What is basic hygiene.

The man with the blue hair was unbelievably rude, he asked us whether we had a problem in a very sharp tone!

I complained twice to someone behind the desk who said he would pass it to the manager, which he quite clearly didn’t. The night after this happened we decided to eat out because of how unwell this made myself and the party feel! The night after that we decided to give it another go because we thought they’d of taken it seriously and obviously we had paid for this service. No! They was doing the exact same things again.

I hope that infection control comes when you least expect it and witnesses this happening!

You don’t deserve a 5 hygiene rating, I have also forwarded my concerns on to infection control.

With the way this has made me feel I most definitely will NOT be returning

DON’T BOTHER CONTACTING THEM, THEY DON’T CARE- I have the...

5 day 4 nights arrived from our pick up point in halifax west yorkshire to a happy, smiling member of staff who told us what would be happening through out our stay. A very clean and welcoming hotel with staff who are ready to help. Comfortable beds flat screen tv ample storage blackout curtains and large en suite with shower. tea and coffee making facilities topped up daily are also on hand ! Bad points Some decor needs bringing up to date by a handy person (chipped/disclosured paint) Rickety chair legs Broken sash chords on Windows making it very difficult to open windows mostly picky items but to make a 5 star reccomendation I think need attention. Food. excellent/ good choice Drink. good choice Comfort. very good Playroom/games there is a child friendly games room with pool table bandits cards/ dominoes etc but really not a great deal for the children. However the beach is only minutes away ! Noise. a bit of road noise but nothing much in the way of neighbours ! Buses are difficult to make sense of as drivers either haven't heard of the hotel or can't be bothered. Obviously not the fault of daishs Bournemouth sands hotel Overall a good stay early season with the best...
