DO NOT STAY. You will regret it and not get a refund.
The worst customer service I have ever witnessed, the room temperature is unsafe for guests to sleep in and the company do not care about you and only want to steal your money.
We arrived on the 12th August 2022 around 1pm, we got told we could not check in until 3pm. When we arrived we were advised there would be no aircon available, we complained and said due to us only finding out now can we cancel so we can book elsewhere to find somewhere that does. We got told if we cancelled we would NOT get a refund (even though we still had to wait 2 hours to check in)
That Friday evening we had called a taxi to head out and waited in the reception area and what we witnessed was absolutely DISGUSTING. There was an elderly couple ages 85 (they mentioned their ages to the receptionist), they were told that there room was on floor 1. The hotel does not have a lift. The couple complained saying that when they booked they requested and got told that they would have a room on the ground floor. The receptionist did nothing to rectify the situation and when the couple mentioned that they could not carry there suitcases up the stairs the receptionist did nothing and would not help them carry there bags up to help them but thought it was acceptable to allow two elderly people try and carry there heavy bags up a flight of stairs. imagine if this was your parents or grandparents.
After witnessing such a horrific sight, my boyfriend got up and offered to carry both the couples suitcases and help them up the stairs as the receptionist was too lazy to do it himself. Disgusting.
We had the worst sleep that evening, waking up every hour sweating. The room temperature was 32.5 degrees inside, we felt trapped and it was unbearable, it made us feel sick. The fan inside did nothing, they are cheap fans that blow out hot air. They do not even have a mini fridge to keep water inside cold. It was hell.
We slept the day Saturday day due to not sleeping well and we woke up in the afternoon we were drenched in sweat and I was distressed and said I cannot bare to sleep another night so we complained that it is unsafe for anyone to sleep here and the receptionist agreed, gave us the customer service number and said call them they can refund you as he agrees it is not ok. His name is Jason. We left Saturday evening when we were supposed to check out Sunday 14th.
I spent 30 minutes on the phone to Premier Inn head office, who were incredibly smug on the phone, said that there is nothing they can do to help and refuse to reimburse or credit anything back to us due to it not meeting the 'good night guarantee'
I said how can they allow guests to sleep at this hotel and how can they have staff that can treat their guests so poorly and I the women had a horrific attitude and just said nothing she can do. (her name was becca/becky)
DO NOT STAY. terrible experience. we did not have a good night sleep, we lost our money and we witnessed one of the most horrific things I have ever...
Read moreOn the positive side, very clean, and staff extremely friendly. The beds are comfortable, and the bedding is good quality. |There was apparently renovation work going on, and both the Premier Inn website and reminder e-mails warned me of this and apologised in advance for any inconvenience or disturbance. This left me confused, as there was no evidence of ongoing renovation, and if in fact the renovation has already happened, I have to wonder what was renovated.|The rooms are done in classic Premier Inn style, and the carpets and curtains looked new. Some of the fitted plywood furniture was worn and damaged, and my room had a cracked bathroom basin. As others have mentioned, there is no air conditioning (though there were two fans in my room, and the windows do open). Also, in common with other Premier Inns, no safe, no fridge and no iron or ironing board.|The big problem, though, and the reason I would not recommend this Premier Inn as a place to stay, is noise. Nothing to do with renovation work, or the surrounding area (which is a modern-ish housing estate), and everything to do with the structure. The floors, whether in the rooms or in the hallways, creak chronically, and the walls are paper-thin. You will not spend any time here without disturbing your neighbours, or being disturbed by your neighbours. Every step you take, and every word you speak, will be felt in the room(s) next door. If there was any renovation, it completely ignored the floors and the walls. The only place the floor didn't make any noise was the bathroom. I would estimate that the building dates at the earliest from the 1980s, so it's not as if you could say that the wood floors under the carpets are creaky because you're in a historic building.|I didn't eat in the hotel restaurant, which looked OK to me, but which according to other reviews is not great. There is a menu in each room, which fascinatingly announces what food is available during the restaurant's opening hours, but neither the menu nor the door of the restaurant itself tell you what those opening hours are. The only alternative nearby sources of food and drink are a local early-till-late shop about 5 minutes' walk away, and a larger (and not very hygienic-looking or smelling) Tesco Express about 10 minutes' walk away. The centre of Taunton and the railway station are walking distance away (about 20-25 minutes).|Premier Inns are consistent in look, but not always in state of repair or quality. The chain obviously showcases its newer hotels, but others, like this one,...
Read morePremier Inns are becoming very hit and miss. This one is more miss. I used to book them because you knew exactly what you were getting. Well that isn't the case anymore. I fear largely because the Hospitality sector is struggling. On arrival here I was looking forward to a meal at the pub still clearly listed in their Google Business listing (which they've forgotten to edit). Except on arrival I was abruptly told it had closed for good. "Its on our listing at the bottom" said the lady on reception clearly experienced in dealing with people as disappointed as me who have travelled miles arriving to no evening meal.....May I suggest that being on the bottom of your listing and also still fully visible on Google is letting you down. Lets also get on to the hotel itself....My room was freezing with a strange heating setup that required lots of fiddling to get right. It has a feel of heartbreak hotel. Where your hopes and dreams go to die. At £95 this isn't value for money. Oh and the directions link direct from the Premier Inn booking email sends you to as housing estate over the road. Someone badly needs to chat with Google at this place...its...
