if you value your life and health avoid this place at all costs! booked in at the Waverly Lodge in Dingwall for two nights staff moved us to the royal 'hotel'. when checking in I presume the manager that checked us in told us that they had to move us due to staff shortage which has respectively got nothing to do with us and escorted us to the royal hotel where we were told where we would be staying. first impressions at the side of the building all of the windows had been boarded up and looked abandoned, the building itself looked like a demolition site. upon entry to the property, the entrance inside was the only clean thing about it, if you have mobility issues this is not the place to stay as it has many flights of stairs with no mobility aids and steep staircases and narrow corridors. it was like trying to find your way around a maze on the inside with corridors and staircases every way you looked. when eventually arriving at our room you get a key code written on a sticky note to enter your room which didn't even have a door handle and the code didn't correspond with the keypad on the door. upon entry to our rooms our first room which my daughter was staying in which was a single room that did not have any storage for her belongings no toilet or bathroom, no tv which was advertised on the booking, the window was propped open with a clothes hanger and the curtains were absolutely filthy along with the carpet and walls, stains and holes were in the walls it looked like there was a police raid within this room. our second room, a double room, was right at the top of the building it felt like I was staying in the loft, which staff stated it has just been refurbished, again one cup between two people and no storage for belongings felt very cramped within the room no towels were provided for either room which it was described on the booking site both rooms would be en-suite with towels provided which wasn't the case in the slightest! it was a shared bathroom for both rooms, which were miles apart, the bathroom was a biohazard, to say the least. there was black mould everywhere and cracks within the tile and walls. when going out for dinner we first went to the reception as on the booking website it stated there was an in-house restaurant to a little surprise there was not was advised by the staff who looked like they would be anywhere else but there to walk down the high street to a takeaway. we asked about the rooms as they looked nothing like the images on the website and requested a change of rooms to a more hygienic and safe room upon this request I presume the manager was less than helpful saying that's what you're getting and there was no possibility of getting a room change and the images are stock images used for all locations of their establishments so don't be shocked with what you see on the website and what you get in person. breakfast was a joke you would be better off walking down to the local Tescos and having breakfast there. if you call continental breakfast coco pops children's apples (the size of a ping-pong ball and rotten) and toast you're laughing. at breakfast we were talking to an agency nurse who was from London who had been moved up to Scotland to work in one of the hospitals, she told me her door didn't close properly she had to wedge the bed against the door and the bedside locker next to the door as she didn't feel safe within this establishment at night or any time she was there which I don't blame her, most of the doorframes look like they have been kicked in for a raid by the police, due to this my daughter's door did not close or lock properly without a good shove this was reported to the 'manager' and nothing like everything else within our stay was done about it. a word of warning: if you stay in this crack den, you are risking the health, safety and well-being of you and anyone you stay with on your trip.don't stay in the biohazard of a so called hotel, and don't make the same mistake as we did. this has been my honest review as I feel others should be warned...
Read moreHi there I feel so angry that I had to write this message to you about my recent booking at the Waverley Inn Dingwall before we set off on the NC 500 road trip. I booked this as a getaway for me and my wife who does not keep well and just to give her a well deserved break upon arrival at the Waverley Inn there was virtually no warm welcome at all from the young lady virtually no eye contact and she mumbled something about a Wi-Fi Password on a pillar anyway I could deal with that first impression that is until we were given our room number and once we entered the room and just looking forward to relaxing for the night we walked in to the room and the we were hit by a really horrible smell I went to open the window to let fresh air in and the curtain pole and curtains fell off at one side which I mentioned to them . We noticed that the beds had already been slept in and my wife refused to sleep in the bed and we just slept on top of bed all night we felt like we were getting eating alive and we came out in bites and really itchy also when we went to use bathroom the smell was horrendous and when I looked down at shower basin there was what appeared to be a layer of slime and dirt on it which obviously hadn't been cleaned, I tried to clean shower basin with shower gel before using and when I did use the shower I noticed the water was not draining away and was just about to overflow onto bathroom floor I quickly pulled the drainage cover to get the water level down and to my horror the smell and the dirt underneath was horrific I've never seen a drain cover so dirty and chocked up with hair and slime and dirt I went down to reception to complain they said that they would come up and have a look which they did and started to clean out plug hole/drain cover which should have been done before our arrival we never even received an apology by this time I had totally lost the will and was half expecting Rigsby out of Rising Damp to make an appearance I also brought up concerns about one of the beds where all the springs were broken in fact it was playing musical springs when you sat down or got up from the bed and when I mentioned this he said it doesn't sound great I said your right the springs are totally shot and it was really uncomfortable but when I mentioned this to them he said he would pass this onto his boss no apology again also the furniture was all chipped and dusty the room didn't look like it had been hoovered and bathroom floor was dirty with hair and dirt the radiator was covered in dirt and dust and by this point my wife who does not keep in good health refused to use shower and was physically sick due to smell also we had the luxury of one small bathroom towel to use list goes on and when I looked above the bed there was an obvious damp patch on the ceiling the pillows were as flat as a sheet of A4 paper didn't have pillow protectors and pillows were all stained and yellow also when I opened one of the windows the inside ledge had never been cleaned since they were put in the windows were filthy on both sides the mirror was all fingerprints. In the morning we had the luxury of a Continental breakfast to look forward to and to be honest I wasn't holding out for any hope and within seconds any hope had vanished there was some bananas and oranges half a loaf of bread which didn't look promising and had seen better days, half box of rice Krispies some bagels etc which were fresh 4 days ago The list just goes on but the whole experience was a nightmare from start to finish . I paid £102-38 pence out of goodwill and was just expecting a clean room to stay in overnight but I am now looking for a full refund for this horrible experience we kept our side of the bargain paying for this room and we were severely let down and to say disappointed is an understatement, If I had known it was this bad I would have slept in my car or even my tent . My advice if your looking to book this place is just keep looking for something...
Read moreWhere to start…on booking the ‘hotel’ for a three night break we thought the price was too good to be true…and it was.||On arrival we were greeted with what we believe to be the manager with a headphone in and radio blaring. The ‘manager’ didn’t look up once when we checked in and were given a key. When we found our room we noticed the door had been kicked in at some point as the door was not aligned correctly meaning it was a nightmare to open and lock. ||Walking down the hallway was a sight to behold with an ironing board with a plugged in iron sitting on top of it with a smell of damp that was reminiscent of a gentleman’s toilet. When we went in to the room the smell was even worse. With a burnt out light fitting and a squint candle light greeting us. I will leave the bathroom to later in the review.||The room was kitted out with a TV, double bed, sofa and small desk with a mirror on it. The one complaint we don’t have was the bed it was very comfy. We read the ‘handbook’ which was left to tell us that to have patience while the hotel was under renovations and that the hospitality would hopefully make up for things and to not leave negative trip advisor reviews. This should have been thought of by said manager at check in.||The bathroom was a disgrace. With black and green mould all over the tiles. The bathroom was a wet room but in the literal sense. After a shower a squeegee had to be used to clean the floors of all the water and moved in to two separate plugs to allow people to use the toilet. The extractor fan was next to useless.||The rooms are not cleaned and no clean towels are given after you arrive. The handbook is clear when it says rooms are not cleaned but will be if you stay longer than 2 weeks….2 WEEKS!!!||The hotel included breakfast in the price. Usually when people go on holiday it is a treat so you expect if you are paying for breakfast that you will be given a selection. Alas this was a massive failure. Firstly getting a seat in the small room where breakfast is served is a rare treat. We avoided breakfast after our only experience was sitting on a table and a soft chair waiting for somewhere to sit. When we finally got a seat after 20 minutes the breakfast was rather lacklustre. Breakfast consisted of coffee, fruit, bowl of cereal and toast. Randomly someone came out of the reception with a plate of 6 waffles and 6 pancakes which were immediately snatched by some very hungry tourists. One elderly couple were about to sit at a free table and when they asked for it to be cleaned the manager was down right rude to them and then when they asked for a mug to have a coffee she exclaimed “all the mugs are being used by guests what am I supposed to do??” Here’s a suggestion don’t buy 12 mugs if you have over 20 rooms.||Overall the town is great with an excellent pub - the mallard. The hospitality at the football stadium is second to none and every shop owner in the town were as friendly as can be. It’s a shame this ‘hotel’ has not learned from how the residents of the...
