CHILLI MASALA — Restaurant in Scotland

2 stars Delicious curry xx. Best pasanda I've had since I moved xx. Popadums were perfect. however this reminded me of how important customer service in a hospitality business is... I came there twice for a meal, and twice for a takeway, once was with my wife a few weeks ago, the last one recently. The owner should know that one of their bar staff is quite rude and scornful. I am a bit hard of hearing due to my age, and a young man yelled at me, repeating my order to me several times, as I struggled to understand on the phone. It was very meanly said, his tone was harsh and very humiliating for me. When I arrived to pick up my curry, I was also given a very petty attitude by what I presume was the same young man. I am aware we need to social distance, as a senior I take this virus very seriously. But I got spoken to very rudely. The man harshly asked that I move to the side, and sit on a chair, despite my bad hip. The latter wasn't even wearing a face mask!! I was abashed!! Instead, the mask was placed on the counter, all crumbled and rather disgusting, if I do say so myself.. When the phone rang, he meanly said " take care of him" to the lovely young lady who then served me. She was delightful and very kind and patient with me. Very polite. She was wearing a mask and had nice clean nails, which is a very polished and professional look. I do not like to leave unpleasant reviews about small businesses, as I know the impact it can have on a business. Took me a while to decide whether to write this or not. I have worked in a chippy myself during my young days, and I understand the struggle of finding the right employees. However because the food was excellent, I came to the decision that I had to tell the owners, as this kind of behaviour can be very detrimental in the long run. This place is beautiful, with great potential. Back last November and last January, I went to dine there with my wife and was given excellent service by another lovely waitress, very kind polite and patient. Was a busy night but I still felt taken care of. I dropped my napkin and she kindly brought me a new one, without me even asking, and cleaned up my mess. Very nice lassie. The food was served rapidely and nicely by another young man, as well a nice young chap with glasses. He even held the door for my wife and I. Perfect experience. I went into detail to show that the rest of the staff was really pleasant and nice. I want to highlight this fact as my bad experience was only a one-off and I would hate for this not to be acknowledged in this review. My dining experiences were great, the food was incredible but the memory is now tarnished by my last experience. 2 stars. xx jonny

Edit from my previous post : I do not understand how but it seems my review was deleted. I am not the most experienced with technology, so it was most likely a mistake on my part. Nevertheless, after a discussion with my neighbour, it came to my knowledge that the man in question was in fact the owner. I found that information very saddening as the rest of the staff was, to reiterate, superb. My neighbour assured me she did not have any issues during her visit, so my experience may have, indeed, been a one-off. It's still, to me, the best Indian in dingwall by far. I will probably keep ordering from this place as they now offer delivery, but if I am to walk in, I may consider the other restaurant in dingwall. No hard feelings...

Easiest 5 stat review for a restaurant. Where to start. My partner and 11 year old son love to eat out. We haven't been for an Indian for years as my son was never so keen. The last few Indian restaurants we have been to were a bit underwhelming as we found everything similar in taste. We had been out kayaking all afternoon and on the way home we were discussing eating out. We couldn't find somewhere we all agreed on so decided to go home. I had a craving for sizzling Indian food so we googled where to eat. Chilli Masala rated 4.7 so thought we'd give it a try. We are all so glad we did as it had restored our taste buds in Indian food. We were all so delighted and cleared all our plates. The service was impeccable and we even heard members of staff laughing which was rare nowadays. We will all definitely return to see if they can retain the fantastic experience we all had. This is a no brainer for Indian food lovers. So much variety and flavour combinations. The price was bang in the money and there was no doubt for the tip which was easily awarded but not expected.

Well done to all at Chilli Masala and we so hope that's your usual standards as we WILL be returning that's for sure. Sad thing was that we ate all our food so there was nothing to take home. 😥😥🤣🤣

Still one of my top 3 Indian...

This is a new startup in Dingwall and has some organisational issues. When we arrived before 8 we were told there would be a 10 minute wait. Not a problem. However, there was no running list of customers waiting for a table. So when three more small groups showed up and different staff kept coming to the door asking who is first, of course, there are those who will simply push ahead (lie) while you wait. Management need to be MUCH more consistent about having a wait list. When we finally got seated, we waited yet another half hour for drinks and another 15 before our dinner order was taken. Once dinner arrived, two of the dishes were not what we ordered, but by this time we just wanted to eat and leave. The food was adequate, but disappointing because it was not what we ordered. The staff were certainly nice enough, but unfortunately lacked knowledge about not only their menu, but some of the more important ingredients. When asked if they had Paneer, we were met with a blank stare. Another staff member came by later and explained they couldn't get a supply of it, even though their competition down the road did serve Paneer. This operation has promise, but they absolutely must get their seating flow along with timely table service in order before they can even hope to compare with the neighbouring restaurant that offers...
