On holiday nearby, always visit this weatherspoons pub whilst shopping in Bridgend, however on this occasion and just hope this is a one off but has put me off weatherspoons pubs even where I live, but was made to feel very unwelcome especially by the managers attitude whilst serving, maybe it has something to do with me being English I don’t know but would gladly welcome Welsh people if I had my own pub and restaurant, my gramp was Welsh and I thought this part of Wales were welcoming and it’s a shame cuz most locals around here are welcoming and friendly, anyway I may be overthinking on this score but I felt that the manager was unfriendly and there were a group of middle aged men who looked rough and unfriendly who were not using the pub but were smoking as the first table I sat at was by a window and in a space of 2 minutes 2 of the men were looking through the window, no apology or trying to get anyone’s attention not even looking at me but I felt my privacy was being invaded and made me feel really uncomfortable, i wouldn’t mind but my mother was with me I felt uncomfortable for her so we moved tables, even tho it was outside of the pubs control which I understand still puts me off especially visiting...
Read moreDue to covid measures they only aloud so many people inside so spend 30mins outside waiting for a table you CANT book a table here in advance there was no instructions on what to do people were just wondering in confused very poor information. I will say there was one or two members of staff that would come outside and tell you what's happening etc.
When finally got inside we cleaned hands filled in track and trace or you could do trace and trace via app we could either use the app or have table serve there was screen around the tables etc which is understandable in these strange times. We ordered via app and found serve to be great food was ok nice typically weitherspoons.
All in all good staff reasonable priced food app worked faultless on my phone but hopefully they put some written literature on the door or near entrance so people know what to do.. next time I go.
It's hard for pubs and restaurants in these times they need support from us so well worth a visit if you don't mind waiting or maybe get...
Read moreWe booked this hotel to attend the Oasis gig in Cardiff after our other hotel cancelled our pre-paid booking. We decided to book to try a Wetherspoons hotel for the first time due to it’s convenient location and budget price. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised at how large and comfy our room felt, much more inviting than other large well known hotel chains. We had a pleasant night’s sleep and attended breakfast downstairs in the pub the next morning, ideal as we didn’t have to route around to find anywhere to eat and it was quite literally on our doorstep. Nice touch was that we showed our key card and got free tea and coffee! The only thing it lost a mark on was the shower as it wasn’t very powerful, I had a body shower but think I would have struggled to wash any shampoo out if I had washed my hair, and my friend’s bedsheet had what looked like dried blood on it which she didn’t notice until waking up. We did make reception aware of this upon leaving. All in all would...
