Decided to book a nights stay here as we had tickets for Motoon which was just around the corner. Arrived late but called in advance to check if this was ok, it was. No one was on the desk when we arrived, after a short wait - someone brought the paper work and handed the key. We booked a king room and looked like it would be excellent value for money - Wrong. As per the mans advice at the desk we took the lift down the coridoor. There were no signs for our room number anywhere and it took at least 10 minutes till we eventually found one. We found the funny side but I have never known anything like it before in a hotel! Got to the room, first impressions were great - massive bed, TV on the wall, decent bathroom. On closer inspection however, things werent so great. Bathroom wasnt clean, urine marks up the back of the loo seat. Floor were uneven, squeaky and wobbly. The bedding, absolutely vile. The thrown was covered in "stains". Yes, its a budget hotel but please look at the photographs. It was late, we pulled the sheets off and went to sleep. Sleep was awful, there was a crack under the door which not only shone light through, but meant we heard every door slam, every other guest. Morning came, we got ready and left, went to check out and again no one was on the desk so left the card and went home. Since we hadnt spoken to anyone at the hotel I send over a facebook message which was read by the holiday inn jesmond but completely ignored. I forwarded photos and explained we werent happy at all with the stay but it clearly wasnt a priority for them. I then contacted the main Holiday Inn page and explained we had been ignored, sent the photographs and told them about our stay. We were offered some kind of reward points which equate to something like £4 - When I questioned the reward points, I was then ignored and havent heard from them since. Its quite comical really. Really wouldnt recommend...
Read moreThis hotel is great value, when compared with other hotels in the city centre. It's only a 10 minute walk from Haymarket, and also Jesmond Metro station is just a couple of minutes' walk away. ||My overriding memory of my stay is how friendly and efficient the front desk staff were. Unfortunately I don't know his name, but there was a gentleman on the front desk who was fantastic - extremely welcoming, polite and informative. If only all hotels had staff like this!||The Reception area is light and airy, with some comfy seats and plenty of high tables and stools with wall sockets, so great for remote working. The reception desk morphs into a Starbucks/Bar and there is also a small snack selection to purchase.||The hotel also has a separate large bar area, and a great Italian restaurant which is where breakfast is served in the mornings.||My room didn't have any view, however the bed was comfy and there was a decent desk to work at, large TV, and safe. Plenty of hanging space too. The bathroom was a little disappointing to be honest - it seemed a bit jaded and my shower attachment kept squeaking and the water would change temperature randomly. I could also hear conversations in the corridor, so soundproofing wasn't amazing.||However, given the price of the room, I think it represented excellent value for money; and it was a nice easy walk into the city centre. You also have the bars and cafes of Osborne road just a 10/15 minute walk away. (their outdoor seating areas were packed when we were there last weekend, owing to the gorgeous...
Read moreRead moreArrives late and there was nowhere to park as the hotel was very busy. After driving round, I parked up outside the front door to see if there was anywhere else I could park. I was on my own and didn't know the area, so was a bit reluctant to start driving round The receptionist was really kind and made a quick phone call to the hotel manager who offered to move his car to let me have his space. Upon check-in I was also upgraded to a suite, which I think was because I was an IHG member, I wasnt quite sure. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The room was quite big, very clean with a huge bed. I did feel it was a bit wasted on me as I didnt arrive until around10pm. The bed was really comfy so I got a good nights sleep. The room was a little bit noisy from the road at the front, but I did manage to close the window which shut out the noise. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and service was quick. There seemed to be a lot of staff working, so tables were cleared and reset very quickly so guests didnt have to wait to be seated. Great hotel, friendly staff and nice clean rooms. Definitely value for money. The only down side is parking space if the hotel is busy, as the car park isnt that big. That said, this is the first time I have stayed where I havent been able to find a free space, but I do normally arrive a bit earlier. Thanks to the receptionist who managed to sort me a space, so I didnt have to park on the...
